Does Anyone Think Beretta M9 is Antiquated?
#1
I was browsing another forum were if you dont own a Colt AR or Colt, Les Behr or other high end gun it is junk. There is thread saying that Berettas M9 and others are antiquated. I do not think that is the case. How about you?

Antiquated to what? Striker fired pistols? Striker fired is a newer design, but I also know a lot of striker fired pistols suffer from light primer strikes. If you had a hard primer and pull the trigger on a striker fired pistol, then you'll have to rack the slide and pull the trigger again for the next round. With a SA/DA pistol if it has a hard primer, then you can pull the trigger again and it'll probably go bang if it was just a hard primer. I think Glocks, Springfield XDMs, and Smith and Wesson M&Ps are, for the most part, very reliable guns. However, I still wouldn't mind carrying a Beretta M9, Colt 1911, or Sig 228 into battle. ....So to answer your question, no.

Also one could consider a Colt AR or Les Behr antiquated compared to a FN Scar or Bushmaster ACR. ...just saying.

I'd never carry one, because there's that one time when this happens...

I have a P229, and I don't think of it as antiquated at all; it's one of my favorites. I also owned an M9, and I did consider that to be outdated. The problem for me was the slide-mounted safety/decocker. I didn't want to use the safety, but I'd often accidentally activate it when racking the slide. It really sucks to pull the trigger and learn that the gun isn't in the condition that you thought. I traded the M9 for an M&P15-22 and don't regret it at all.

Gun snobs abound.

Asking one gun to fit all people is like asking one car to fit all people and purposes.

Is a '70 Hemi'Cuda antiquated? Depends on what you want to do......

Is the design still functional and cost effective? If yes to both, then why does it matter? Just my personal view on it.

I want an M9 to add to my collection! Antiquated or not, it is still part of US Military history!

A Reading from the Book of Armaments, Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:

Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Out of curiosity though...was this a glock site, or a glock fanatic making that statement?
