Eggs in One Basket

There was a brush fire in my area that burned over 100 acres of wooded lots, and almost burned down a couple of houses. Over 15 different are fire depts. responded, and it took them while to get it under control.

This made me think about having all of my preps in one location. If my house were burnt down, or some other "act of God" occurred, my preps would be destroyed.

Do any of you have your preps stored in multiple locations in case of a disaster destroying your primary location?

I have made "other plans."

I also have an immediately ready emergency pack in my garage that contains food and water (under ideal conditions) for 12 days, or 6 days under worse case conditions.

It has 12 cans of food
12 2 liter bottles of water
Water purification tablets
Emergency first aid kit
Can opener
Water proof poncho
Emergency space blanket
Emergency space sleeping bag
Iodide tablets
Hand axe
100 foot paracord

And probably some other stuff im forgetting

I have a climate controlled storage unit about 3 miles from here. Ultimately, I'd like another location, but it'll do for now.

I have some gear in my house. Enough to last me a month or so.

I also keep some gear( no weapons) in my car.

The majority of my stuff is roughly 10 miles away. At my BOL.

I did have a goto spot setup with some items stashed there, but that location is no longer accessible to me. I have been thinking about going the storage locker route though, would probably set this up along the route I travel to/from work by.

I do also have a backpack setup with food, extra clothing, sleeping bag, camp fuel/stove, etc..and in addition have a storage container setup with some food/water and and some firearms/ammo that I can just throw in my vehicle and leave with.

So far this is what I have:

[Image: ?ui=2&ik=2be1d0bd14&view=att&th=13aa8226...57568-1&zw]

Still need to get a couple more waterproof/odor proof containers. Need to add a stash of food yet. Not sure what I will do for larger quantities of H2O with winter coming on and all.

Won't go into complete details but in general I have fire, shelter, warmth, first aid, tools, extraction gear, protection.... and many other goodies that might be needed if I am caught away from home. My Jeep is almost always w/ me when I am not here so this is my only "other egg basket" so far.

Not perfect yet but a start.

Are you far from this guy? http://lancaster.craigslist.org/grd/3332785370.html

I think some of the drums he has there are the ones that the entire bung opens, those are perfect for storing that kind of thing in a remote location. It'll keep the bugs and vermin out.

Luckily mt father-in-law and father have done some prepping of their own and have welcomed up over if anything were to ever go wrong. We can be ready to move at any time. Since I start a new job in December we'll have to edit our plan/rally points.
