Email from Congressman Robert A. Brady

No surprise here from a Philadelphia politician.

Quote:

Dear Mr. xxxxxxx:

Thank you for contacting me with your views regarding gun control. As your representative in Congress, I think the most important part of my job is to understand your concerns so I can better represent the First District of Pennsylvania in our nation's capital.

While I understand your advocacy for no limitations on firearm possession, I believe that sensible gun laws can both guarantee the safety of our communities while maintaining our constitutional rights. As you know, the First District has been repeatedly struck by violence due to lax regulation of firearm purchases, and I have consistently supported legislation that aims to limit these unnecessary tragedies. In line with this approach, I am proud to have received the highest possible rating from many different groups that seek a common goal of limiting gun violence. I recognize the need to guarantee our constitutional rights, but I also believe that, in the face of the harsh reality, our nation needs common sense gun control measures that! protect our community from acts of senseless violence. I support President Obama's initiatives to curb the possession of these weapons in a manner that is in line with the Second Amendment, and I look forward to supporting the effort for sensible gun control in the 113th Congress.

I appreciate the time you have taken to contact me about this matter. I also encourage you to visit my web site (http://www.brady.house.gov/). I hope you will stay in touch and contact any of my local Philadelphia offices or my office in Washington if I can be of any further assistance.

Sincerely,

Robert Brady
Member of Congress

Nice guy.

We don't have a gun problem, we have a criminal justice system problem. People are breaking the law and they are either not being held accountable for their actions or they are receiving light sentences (anything ranging from probation to a few months in prison). The DA's office complains they have high caseloads. Well if you actually prosecute criminals for ALL of the crimes they commit and follow mandatory minimums then they will be in jail for a long time, and they won't be in the court system for that duration.

.......but what do I know?

"While I understand your advocacy for no limitations on firearm possession, I believe that sensible gun laws can both guarantee the safety of our communities while maintaining our constitutional rights."

Do you see where he says "sensible laws" and "guarantee safety" in the same sentence? How in the world does he think anything can be guaranteed? He says he believes that laws can guarantee safety. Does that make him mentally ill? Delusional? A lying turd? All three?

Constitutional rights are not maintained when there is infringement. True, they have been eroded in the past but further laws will certainly infringe further and thus will not maintain Second Amendment rights.
