Extrema Ratio input wanted.
#1
crosshair
I am looking into Extrema Ratio for my next knife purchase. After a few months of reading reviews and touching myself while looking at the pictures, I have decided to pull the trigger on one. From all accounts these things are the balls... Like if Lamborghini built tanks. So I'm wondering if anyone has any firsthand experience or technical input.

I am looking into the S.E.R.E.-1. Supposedly this knife was designed for hard life use in the most extreme scenarios. It looks like a cross between an Aventador and log splitter. Granted, the push knife design seems a little strange... most push knives are petite things... Built for fanciful intimidation. Not this thing. It is big enough to baton wood with, strong enough to support 330 pounds of torque (you could use it to climb), and as a devastating hole-punch against Kevlared enemies.

Most importantly, it has a very unique look. It will be something that stands out from the crowd. I will put some links in so you can see what I have been looking at.

Comes with warnings that their products should only be purchased from authorized sellers due to counterfeiting (which, like everything else, is done by the Chinese).

You have to respect a knife that comes with its own theme music. Big Grin

That Muslim Arabic music makes me concerned that I would be put on the no fly list if I bought one

Here is another: http://www.gunsandtactics.com/s-e-r-e-1-...s-division

As you can see by this picture, the knife penetrated body armor that isn't designed to stop knives. Use a KR1 or KR2 panel next time.

Sorry, but this seems like a really expensive piece of tacticool.

Yes, very hilarious. I understand that this knife is lacking in robust reviews. But ExtremaRatio is a rarified bird. Try http://www.kniferating.com/brand.php?bra...rema-Ratio

Just busting your balls. Their knives do look tough as nails and N690 is supposed to be very good material. Maybe when you get yours, you could do a real review on the knife/dagger. I am sure the guys over in Italy would be happy to see that.

These guys found a much tougher beer can: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-0OmEGyX7sE&autoplay=1

Embedded for you. That was crazy! And that's their FOLDING KNIFE. Dafuq. Oh, and I enjoy some good natured ball busting... Sharp wit is an under appreciated art form, ya shits. Lol.

1. I've never been sold on Extrema knives. I've handled more than a few, and they were always too bulky, too big, and too awkward for daily use. A pocketknife should be easily carried in your pocket, and their folders aren't. And they're a bit too stylized for me, aesthetically.

2. Push daggers are purpose driven, which is evident by their basic design. They're not meant for utility use, and their design makes them that way. Extrema's trying to turn the push dagger into something it's not. If you need a survival knife, get a survival knife. Plus, there's the legality issue. I have a couple of push daggers that never go farther than my front door...because they're daggers.

If you can get to a decent gun show, there's always at least one dealer with Extremas. Go and check them out.

Yeah, I know on the daggers... Bullshit laws, that. And I do already have some quality survival knives. But then you don't buy a Ferrari because it's practical. You buy it because... well... it's a freakin Ferrari. This would be an exotic want not a basic need, so I can see my way to buying it under those conditions. Even if it isn't an EDC, which I also have several, it's still something that would be excellent to have.

I was also looking at the Pugio. That is also a dagger, though.

On the gun show issue, I wouldn't buy them there. Too many Chinese counterfeits.
