I was really partial to the japanese spyderco. I dont think the modern chinese ones are worth what they charge, but the quality is not bad just not worth the price they charge.

The Seki City (Japan) made blades are classics in many aspects, the Worker was the original one handed opening clippable knife, things we take for granted on knives we carry everyday. Tons of Seki models are classics, the Delica and Endura for example.

This might sound counter-intuitive but some of the best knives Spyderco is making now come from Taichung, Taiwan. Some Spyderco aficionados (myself included) consider them better than what Spyderco is doing in Seki and in the US. The fit and finish on these knives is absolutely incredible. They really are making semi custom knives at production prices.

The entire Sage series is a good example, each one pays homage to a knife maker and their propriety lock. I have a Sage 1, incredible carbon fiber. It's a looker and a user.

The Perrin PPT is another great one, although my picture may not do it justice.

The Taichung knives are fantastic, I'd highly recommend any of them. The work Spyderco has done in Taiwan is almost like sending their ideas to a small custom shop.

Kershaw Salvo. Sandvik steel, holds an edge, gets the job done.
I don't suffer from insanity.
I enjoy every minute of it.

Oh I'm so jealous. I have a La Griffe and a TDI, but I desperately need a Swick. Or a Spot... Perhaps both? I'm off to Ebay!

Something you might be interested, being bitten by the bug as I am, Spyderco is coming out with a trio of small fixed blades (2 3/4 inch blades), three different blade shapes, FRN handles, included sheaths and I think they are all going to be VG10;

Benchmade 710 with a D2 blade. I've carried a number of different pocket knives and this has been by far my favorite.
