Federal Workers to Congress: Leave Us Out of Deficit Deal
#11
The way I understand it, the federal employees main beef is that the republicans always want to cut the federal workforce (except the military, which is where they want to move the money to) and the democrats are willing to cut the federal workforce if it saves entitlements.

Which means that no money will be saved, but instead of paying and taxing federal workers who buy things and spend money now you risk adding them to welfare roles where they pay no taxes, and get money for nothing, and with our current system once your on welfare you and your preceding generations are too.

The issue of federal workforce size and the federal pension system is another issue.

That's right. When cola went down their lay wasn't adjusted like ours was... complete bullshit. Their fair share is to find another job since the employer they have is losing money hand over fist over Ass..

So in other words, I lost my job or benefits or something else, so they need to lose theirs?

You got hurt, so you want to hurt them?

that goes for state, local and federal employees

government workers average 50% higher pay and benefits than the average american

And military members earn higher pay and benefits than your typical civilian federal worker Wink And those numbers also include everyone from Doctors to politicians, who make big bucks and skew everyone else's average.

Remember, those statistics which say feds make that much higher INCLUDE military members. The statistics don't tell the full story, and you know as well as I that numbers are often manipulated by all sides to exploit some narrative over another.

And yes, there are no doubt many who are simply out to rape the system, and I've always said that I have no issue with collective bargaining unions, but no government worker at any level should EVER be permitted to strike. And honestly, I don't think federal workers even CAN strike. IMHO it is sick that teachers, cops, public workers, etc are allowed to NOT work and be paid for it.

I'm of the opinion that if you are a government worker you're expected to be at work working and not standing on a picket line.

Again, I do not believe that the 'vast majority' of government workers are out to screw the system into oblivion. The unions are, but the unions represent themselves first and foremost, and only tertiarily represent the employees.

I have no personal issue against government employees making a decent wage for whatever it is they do, but I'm more concerned with the redundancy, waste, and overspending than I am who makes what.

I've seen brand new 10k printers (copier machine style) which were otherwise brand new sent through a grinder in Iraq because some Army soldier plugged a 110 device into a 220 circuit, and call it 'defective', or turn perfectly good equipment in for disposal/destruction simply because they didn't want to go through the inventory process to bring it back to the states.

THAT kind of stuff pisses me off more than a clerk working for the gov making 8k more per year than a clerk at some podunk company.

I remember the "float survey".

When the Navy and Marines didn't want to inventory stuff on the way back from NATO exercises they would just dump it over the side in the middle of the Atlantic.

Lots of bucks went over the side.

I'm fully employed as a statistician level V so no I'm not hurting at all. However that makes no difference. COLA should go both ways and when the general american public loses money the federal workforce should be the last group of workers immune to it.

New math? Doesn't work out. Federal employee pay taxed is less than federal employee on the dole, anytime, anyway.

As of Today, I see the US Army as a welfare to work program. The number of single parents who are service members playing the system to stay in, draw a check, work outside of their trained position, get promoted, and generally suck at anything.

More big pushes bring in more minorities and women, promote faster, and place in senior ranks but lack the education, experience, and training. Yeah!!!!

Best trained military in history? The average US Army Soldier doesn't fire but 200 rounds of ammo a year. The Average US Army Infantry Soldier fires less than 500 and I'm being generous in both examples.

I tell ya, in my opinion, the US Military has gone to shit in the fastest hand basket in history. The reason? Social Engineering the Defense Forces of the Country.

I have advocated for some years that our active forces should not number more than a total of 500K.

As for the federal civilian workforce, many agencies duplicate, triplicate, or quadruplicate services. Not to mention the pure number of absolutely feel good agencies that truly don't need to exist.

I do believe the US Gov is the Largest employer in the United States.

Here's an idea a buddy of mine has. Get rid of the VA. Put all Veterans on an HMO gov funded health care plan. Billions saved in operating expenses for salary, retirement, building operations, police force, and healthcare for employees. Billions saved.

Here's something for y'all to should do. Go on USAJOBS.GOV. The official US Gov website listing all jobs available.
Now, don't look for a job but go to advanced search and scroll down to where each and every US FED Dept, agency, commission, bureau, or entity is listed. You might have to click on a Dept and move it into a box and then a huge list of seperate sub agencies will show up.
THOUSANDS of them!

Waste of Billions upon billions upon billions.

I also have seen the waste as described by Camper. Millions wasted.

Now I lay me to sleep, beside my bed a Glock I keep. If I wake & find you inside, Coroner's van will be your next ride.

The unions are starting to see they are rats on a sinking ship in the middle of an ocean with nowhere else to go like the lot of us. The sooner this government defaults the better, so those of us with the time to rebuild have a shot at a future.
