Florida Sheriff’s Office Reports Problems with Glock Service Pistols
#1
Quote:The Palm Beach sheriff’s office is reporting an unfortunately notable streak of failures with their Glock service pistols. CBS4 obtained a confidential Sheriff’s report documenting the department’s Glock issues.

All of the Palm Beach sheriff’s problems have been striker-related, and the report is simply called “Firing Pin Issue.” In all instances of the problem, faulty strikers were causing failures to fire.

Other law enforcement agencies have heard of the Palm Beach sheriff’s department’s problems, with the Miami Dade PD even making a five-minute PSA video warning officers about the problem and how to check against it.

Glock is acting quickly to replace the parts. Glock is almost synonymous with service pistol across the country, with it being a relatively standard firearm for police departments large and small and agencies local, state and federal.

According to CBS4 News, Glock flew representatives in from Smyrna, Ga. to Palm Beach to work with the department in person and on site. Additionally, ammunition manufacturer Speer has been working directly with the PBSO to address the problems.

I know Philly Police had a lot of strikers break in their Glock 21 pistols. I also know the warrant unit had a lot of problems with the Glock 22 w/ tlr-1 lights mounted to it (lots of jams, but I forget exactly what kind they were). I'll look into it more and then update this post.

One of the surrounding township police departments from where I did my internship issued M&Ps and they had problems with the mags randomly dropping while in the middle of training. I believe they did get the problem fixed.

I'm surprised not too many local PDs issue the XDM. I think it is the finest striker fired pistol on the market today. Maybe it's lack of duty holsters?Shrug

Glocks are great pistols no doubt, but the company makes a pistol for $50 and charges 10x that much. They were bound to have problems, thing is they have so much riding on their name, I bet you a better handgun comes out of this. They won't let this sit long.

Glock 22 and 23's did have problems with streamlight TLR's. So I wonder what happened this time. Light strikes :/

I really doubt that it cost them $50 to complete a pistol. There's still several man hours per pistol to get it completed. Unless they're being made in China and paying workers $.60/hour there's just no way it only cost them $50/pistol.

Glocks aren't what they used to be, IMO.

I made the mistake of buying an early issue Gen4 G17, what a POJ.
A gun rack in a pick-up is not for holding guns. Its a place for women to hold on to. Smile
