Force [Gun] Owners to Buy Insurance for Them

I doubt they'll be a discount for AR-15s, AKs and others. And I don't want to even see the numbers for registered MGs.

Too bad the media isn't held responsible for the crap they stir up. Imagine the howl if they had to pay a $200 tax for particularly incendiary articles, and then take out insurance in case of riots?

Quote:A Smart Way to Control Guns: Force Owners to Buy Insurance for Them

Want to limit the number of firearms in this country? Or better yet, would you just like to make sure the people who do own them are responsible, careful individuals? Then have I got a policy proposal for you: make gun buyers purchase liability insurance for their weapons.

... The thinking is that insurance would make gun ownership more expensive and a hassle, which would discourage some people from buying weapons, or at least from acquiring huge arsenals. But it would make gun ownership particularly expensive for those who are most likely to get caught up in some sort of violence. So lifetime hunters with spotless criminal history would get a great rate -- the Economist notes that National Rifle Association members can already buy $100,000 worth of gun liability coverage for as low as $165. A jobless 19-year-old male with a disorderly conduct arrest on their record, on the other hand, would have to pay a whole lot more than they could afford.

.... So if you don't keep your gun under lock and key, and somebody gets a hold of it and commits a crime, you'd be on the hook.

I can see that this would be an option that would be sought by the idiots that supposedly represent us. If they can mandate healthcare insurance, they most certainly could mandate this.

Yep. The OMao-Roberts mandate opened up a HUGE can of tyrannical worms.

We has a group need to start pushing back! These people are just begging for the fringe owners to start up. All this mess is following the book "Enemies Foreign and Domestic" almost to the letter. There just isnt any resistance yet, but I have a bad feeling its coming.

I would like to see someone propose making inner-city and/or low income males between the ages of 18-45 get criminal liability insurance.

Admit nothing.  Deny everything. Demand proof.
If we lie to the government, it's a crime. If the government lies to the people, it's called politics.

If I have to carry insurance on the slight chance someone might use my gun in a crime, then I demand that non-gun owners carry a larger & more expensive policy that covers willful victimization.
