Frightening boston Hospital story
#1
You guys following this story at all? It's really, really scary what the medical community in cahoots with the government can do to a family. This could happen to anybody's kid. Frightening.

Excerpt:

Quote:STAVER: He had been doing this for years. He is a medical expert at Tufts, and in January 2013, Justina was figure skating. She was figure skating in ice competitions, as well. And in February, she develops a severe flu and bad stomach problems, unable to eat, so the doctor at Tufts recommends she goes to Boston Children's Hospital and recommends she see a gastroenterologist who went from Tufts to Boston. So, they checked her in, but they never get a chance even to this day to see that gastroenterologist.

KELLY: Right.

STAVER: In fact, he got a brand new doctor who changes the diagnosis, says no, it is not what your expert doctor says, it is all in your mind, and then calls in DCF, and DCF then interferes.

KELLY: And DCF gets custody taken away from the parents. DCF basically, I mean they -- they basically deferred to Boston Children's. They go in there -- they don't have their own medical experts. They go to the judge and say the people at Boston Children says they're -- you know, basically abusing the girl. Gee, judge that's bad, and the judge says oh yeah, that is bad. Custody to DCF. But the problem is there is a whole medical team at Tufts saying it is not abuse, it's medical treatment based on a disease she has called mito.

But here's the thing I wanna ask you, Matt, because this is what the folks at Boston Children's basically say mito is a crock. That's -- that's -- if it exists, it doesn't exist in this case. And what actually is happening is it is not Justina that has psychological issues, it is the parents. From what I read in the Boston Globe, it's the parents, they used to call it Munchausen by proxy. Where the parent -- the child is not sick, but the parents working out some of his -- or her own and creating illnesses in the child and then getting unnecessary treatments and surgeries for the child.

STAVER: And here is the problem with that. Because if that were the case and you remove the parents from her, then her natural conditions should improve. But they have been removed from her for now 13 months. They only have one hour a week of supervised visitation. Most recently there were 5 DCF workers and a security guard during that one-hour visitation last Friday with Linda. And instead of getting better, she's gone from ice skating in January 2013 to be in a wheelchair. She in a desperate situation --

One of the most disturbing parts of this is that the judge who made the initial judgement to take the child away from her family issued a gag order against the parents AND THE PARENTS STUCK TO IT FOR OVER A YEAR!!!

I'm not even sure of the legality of gag orders in a family case like this but there is no way in hell I would keep my yap shut for that long. I'd be talking to every paper, tv outlet, blog and shouting it in the town square to try to get some leverage.

I read an article on The Blaze that sort of alluded to the idea of the story being ignored by media and also the case basically shutting out most all legal or public action. I'm not so sure they have actually "let" this happen. It kind of sounds like it's been trying to get out for awhile and finally the right people latched onto it and publicized it. But I don't know for sure.

Anyway...if they were made to think they could get their daughter back sooner, I guess they would probably try to obey the order.

Stinkin intimidation Gestapo tactics......

I can't understand why the original medical center has no say in this.

From what I have read I got the same impression. The family was trying to play by the rules in hopes of getting their daughter back.

The difference between them and myself is they had faith that the system would come to the right conclusion and do the right thing in the end. I have no such illusions. Government in every branch and at nearly every level is about exercising power. The only way to overcome it once inside the system is by exposing it's excesses and putting enough pressure on the right people so that they are forced to come to a just conclusion. Most commonly this is done by pleading your case in front of a jury. Since that wasn't an option in this case the only recourse they have was by getting some media exposure.

I don't have kids and I don't believe most people would kill when they say they would. If I had a kid and someone did this I can imagine my rage. I can tell you I'd be looking for some serious revenge. Revenge I could get away with and revenge served ice cold and revenge that would lead to probable death of those involved. If I sat on a jury of someone accused of murdering one of these douchebags.. Well jury nullification comes to mind.

There are a lot of photos in the third link I posted, and I almost cried looking at a photo of the girl competing in ice skating last year, and now reduced to a handicapped, wheelchair-bound invalid now because she is not being treated for her illness.

One article noted that the physician who re diagnosed her was only 7 months out of medical school. They also never allowed her to see the specialist they referred her to.

I still don't understand why the tufts doctors seem to have no say in this whatsoever.

If all of this is true and I'm skeptical because the father hasn't murdered anyone yet...
I would be going to jail. Not for murder.. oh no. I would research how to precisely cut someones spinal cord to make them a quadriplegic. That judge would get his. Im not advocating criminal activity im just saying I personally would become a criminal. I don't even have kids but I can.imagine this line of thinking is what most parents would feel.

Who the heck does that judge think he is....and how in heck can he tell the family they can't have an attorney?!

The girl is getting very sick in state "care". If she dies in state care I hope it's the biggest lawsuit Boston has ever seen.

Better yet, I hope somebody will stand up and get this girl returned to her family. She's withering away. Sad

I have to believe we're missing a ton of information... Either that or we should all be grabbing pitchforks.
