So this beastie started out as a result of someone handing me a Ruger MkII and my deciding that I really wanted a .22 target pistol.

I ended up falling in love with the looks of this beast. In stock form, it got me my NRA/Winchester handgun Expert rating.

But with the 7.25" steel bull-barrel it was a heavy cuss; my girlfriend didn't like shooting it and I was only good with it if I was hitting the gym multiple days a week.

At the last Warminster gun show, she fell in love with a Ruger 22/45 Lite, so I decided to see what could be done as I wasn't willing to give up the Hunter by way of trade-in.

Result is the Hunter with a 5.5" Tactical Solutions lightweight barrel. I had to improvise a bit to fit the stock front sight, as the ones on offer otherwise don't take into consideration the Hunter's very high rail/top-cap. (The photo shows the tallest TacSol, sight, not the stock one that is about 33% taller.)

The weight is 24oz., where the 22/45 Lite is 23. But the Ruger isn't near as purty at least to my eye. Yes, that is the Browning "Buck" laser-engraved on the factory cocobolo grips. The rest of the metal on the gun comes Parkerized from the factory.

The balance of the new configuration can only be described as "exquisite."

Stock trigger is under 2 pounds, and just as sweet as can be. It's light enough that I occasionally do an accidental double-tap.

I very much like the look of the shorter barrel. Still breaking the new barrel in; the groups are a tad bit less consistent then the original, but I hope they'll settle down.

By the way, the barrel swap takes about 15 minutes.

I really like those tac sol barrels. I just picked up a mkiii 5.5" bull blued last week and will definitely get one in od green when the funds permit. Also want one of those volquartsen trigger jobs as well.

Nice bb. How does it shoot compared to the rugers in your opinion?

The Buckmarks and the Rugers are peas in a pod as far as the way they shoot as far as I'm concerned.
