GE CAPITAL QUIETLY CUTS OFF LENDING TO GUN SHOPS

Quote:General Electric, Co. has been quietly informing gun shop owners that the company will no longer be providing lending services to them, the Wall Street Journal reports. GE Capital is apparently reconsidering its relationship to firearms companies following the Sandy Hook shooting.

Earlier this month, Glenn Duncan, owner of Duncan’s Outdoor Store in Bay City, Mich., claims he received a letter from GE Capital Retail Bank announcing its “difficult decision” to stop providing financial services to his business. Other gun shops have received similar notices, the Journal notes.

More from WSJ.com:

GE is at least the second big financial firm to retreat from the gun business following the school shootings, which claimed the lives of 20 first-graders and six adults in December.

No more GE products for me. They can't support the 2nd, I won't support them.

That's funny considering all of the weapons and military gear General Electrics makes, such as the minigun.

A very bad business decision by GE considering gun sales are through the roof and the more talk of bans the brisker the sales. This is ideology driven and GE's shareholders should be outraged that the bottom line is not being considered.

Outraged should be an understatement.

Quote:Sadly, this news didn't break until today, the same day GE held its annual shareholder meeting in New Orleans. The late disclosure effectively preempts stock holders from mounting protest at an annual meeting until next year.

It sure does seem like there's a concerted effort by secondary businesses to harm the gun industry. From BoA closing accounts on gun related businesses and this story. I believe there was even something related to insurance companies canceling policies.

They don't care, they pay no taxes...

Good news: I searched my home and nothing owned by GE resides. Well, that saves me some ammo.

Going to turkey camp next week, anything GE will find it's way to the bonfire.

I have a GE Oven and Microwave, and that's it. The only reason they're here is because they came with the house. If I had to replace them I wouldn't buy GE, but I had made that decision long before this came up.
