Getting Knife Preemption in PA?
#1
Is it worth trying for, or is it too big of a risk (ending up with statewide restrictions on blade length, etc.)?

What states were those?

Knife preemption would be great, but it's low on the list of Give A Fucks as far as our legislators go. Different proposed bills have been proposed (usually by reps from rural districts) and not a one ever made it to the floor.

Last session Rep Brooks introduced HB 2548 Knife Preemption on July 11, 2012

It got ZERO traction, so much so couldn't even get Rep Brooks to re- introduced Knife Preemption in the 2013-2014 session

maybe we can get this introduced for the 2015-2016 session

here was text of now dead HB 2548 to amend PA § 908. Prohibited offensive weapons with its vague wording.
http://www.legis.state.pa.us/cfdocs/bill...=B&bn=2548

we still need to deal with stun gun wording & sandbag in section 908 prohibitive offensive weapon

Note the items in brackets are being removed from section 908 which would be a great for US

Quote:
§ 908. Prohibited offensive weapons.

~snip~

"Offensive weapons." Any bomb, grenade, machine gun, sawed-off shotgun with a barrel less than 18 inches, firearm specially made or specially adapted for concealment or silent discharge, any blackjack, sandbag, metal knuckles, [dagger, knife, razor or cutting instrument, the blade of which is exposed in an automatic way by switch, push-button, spring mechanism, or otherwise,] any stun gun, stun baton, taser or other electronic or electric weapon or other implement for the infliction of serious bodily injury which serves no common lawful purpose.

Kansas,Oklahoma, Georgia and Kentucky did something I think. Almost passed in Tennessee the house but not the senate, probably next year. Then the guy can stop walking around with the 1800s gun in his hand.
