Getting water from your well when there is no power
#21
I installed one of these today.

It's in a 405ft well, static water level is around 84ft. The pump is installed at 110ft. It is installed in a 6 inch well case right along side an existing electric submersible pump.

It's hard work pumping water from that depth. I can pump about 2.5 gallons a minute and then my arms hurt. It went together easily and cost me less than 300 bucks, including the purchase of a new well cap and the metal hole saw.

I'm going to make a lever system for the pump, to reduce the effort needed to pump water from that depth, how hard could that be?

I was looking at this for a manual backup:

Hand Pump

Seems well priced and it receives good feedback.

Appreciate the post. My well is nearly identical, 390, with static ~60.

Now that you installed it, do you wish you would have gone with the lever type from the start?

Thanks.

Thanks.

Actually in the instructions for the pump he gives a pretty good diagram for making a lever set up for the pump. I really wanted a bison pump (or similar), but the cost prohibited me. This was 1/5 the cost, and does a good job.

I'm happy with it, and would recommend it.

I don't think I'd be able to fit any of them down my well.

Current or future ones?
