Going on a TechnoHunt...
#1
Got invited to shoot a techno hunt tonight. This will be my first time shooting my new bow and first time shooting archery period. Time to pop that archery cherry!

Anyone done these or know more about them and what to expect?

I've only done it twice. First time was years ago and filled with computer glitches. Last time wasn't bad, you just shoot blunt tips at a screen...the hunting senarios could be anything. It's great for indoor but I would much rather be in the field shooting...that's just me I guess. For a first timer this should suit you well. Don't worry about your score, worry about your technique. Hopefully someone will be there to assist and give you pointers. Most importantly...have fun!

That would be cool if they had a zombie themed one. Smile

Yea, weather outside sucks and I've been itching to shoot just about anything at this point. I'm taking 3-4 friends out with so I should have plenty of instruction. Can't wait to try it!

Sounds too fun not to have one of these. I'm sure someone is running a zombie program.

Do they have a TechnoHunt program for bowfishing? That would be sweet too.

Well, that was a blast! We played for about 3 hours and after getting the sights on I wound up shooting around 180 points out of 30 shots on my second game. I'm definitely going to do that again!

Starting the techno hunt league next Wednesday, got a call from a buddy of mine and we've got a team together. I'm running the TAS-SABO Sight on my bow and absolutely love it! The first time I did techno hunt I had an ordinary old 3 pin sight that worked well but I can definitely shoot tighter groups with the SABO sight, get on target quicker and I can see more of the target because I don't have a pin blocking the sight picture. The only issue I had was the black lights in the range didn't work with this new sight and I couldn't see the dots on the bright screen. They make archery sight lights but theyre all blue LEDs from what i could find and they don't work either, I needed a white LED and they don't make one.

Solution?...

Bore light. Plenty bright enough, lightweight, more than half the price of ordinary lights and easy to zip tie to the sight. Hope this works! Check it out...

Well the light worked perfect. The dots were just as bright as the exit sign in the room and shined bright on the projector screen. One thing I noticed is the orientation of the battery compartment lends itself to disconnecting the circuit between the battery and the contacts inside and the light shuts off after every shot. That's actually a plus I guess so you don't run the batteries out when you forget to shut it off. A light with a momentary pressure switch on the grip maybe for the index finger might be better too.

Scored 120 points in 20 shots tonight, played the whitetail classics scenes I think it was called. Supposedly it was one of the harder groups of shots to play so maybe that's a good indicator. One of my teammates scored the week high score of 152 out of the 6 other teams. Tournament range fee is only 6 bucks for those 20 shots and with four guys it takes around an hour. We have 5 more matches to go.
