Good Shooting Ranges
#1
Since I'm from Oregon, ending up in Philly, what are the rules and regs on carrying handguns to and from gun ranges? Where are the best shooting ranges that are outdoors in the Philly area? I have two daughters that each shoot different, but were both taught on outdoor ranges and we are used to 'roughing it'. Wouldn't know what to do with controlled environments,LOL.

Going to have to let someone in that area answer that question Philly is in a world of it's own compared to most of the rest of this fine state.

I'm not from Philly, but I would highly suggest getting the process started for a LTCF if you haven't already.

I second the suggestion of LTCF. I know there are plenty of Philly members so eventually your question will be answered. Sorry I couldn't help in that regard.

Depends on whether you are living in Philly or in a surrounding county.

PA has its share of outdoor SGL ranges. I don't know about the Philadelphia area, though. I will reiterate what everyone else has said: get your LTCF, if you haven't already.

As far as I know the closest SGL's to Philly are in Lehigh or extreme northern Chester County. Philly and DELCO do not have one, however there are "membership" type ranges closer.

A loaded firearm can be carried in a vehicle if the owner has a LTCF/permit from any state.

?????? There are states that do not have reciprocity with Pa. Carrying with a ltcf from one of these states could lead to big trouble in Philadelphia and Pa.

I'm not sure what the ltcf situation is in Oregon, but if I am reading this map correctly, no states honor their permit.

PA honors permits from all states (in regards to carry in a vehicle), whether or not we have a reciprocity agreement with them.

18 Pa.C.S. § 6106: Firearms not to be carried without a license

....
(b) Exceptions.-

...(11) Any person while carrying a firearm in any vehicle, which person possesses a valid and lawfully issued license for that firearm which has been issued under the laws of the United States or any other state.

HOWEVER, you still cannot carry within 1000' of a school.
