Budget deal allows for January federal pay raise

Quote:The budget measure that ended the partial government shutdown allows for a 1 percent raise for federal employees in January in addition to providing back pay for those furloughed, according to two Democratic Maryland senators.

I think most of us predicted correctly that the shutdown would in the end result in all the furloughed employees ending up with what would become a paid vacation.

Apparently the Democrats have bigger nads than the Republicans.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The government unlocked its doors Thursday after 16 days, with President Barack Obama saluting the resolution of Congress' bitter standoff but lambasting Republicans for the partial shutdown that he said had damaged the U.S. economy and America's credibility around the world.

"There are no winners here," Obama said just hours after signing a last-minute measure from Congress that was free of the Republican demands that had started the standoff. The deal allowed federal workers to return Thursday morning and headed off the threat that the nation would default on its debts, at least for this year. http://xfinity.comcast.net/articles/news...et.Battle/

Looks like O'Connell spent some time on his knees in addition to bending over for Reid AND Obama.

Quote: Mitch McConnell slipped language in emergency funding bill that will make it basically impossible for Congress to block future debt ceiling hikes

The plan includes a proposal offered by McConnell in the 2011 debt ceiling crisis that allows Congress to disapprove of the debt ceiling increase, which means lawmakers will formally vote on whether to reject a debt ceiling increase until Feb. 7.

Obama can veto that legislation if it passes. If Congress fails as expected to gather a two-thirds majority to override the veto, the debt ceiling would be automatically raised.

I am really sick of seeing, "Obamacare is the law, deal with it". By that justification, are the Democrats going to leave the 2nd Amendment alone now?? I will make a deal with you liberals. I will let you keep your massive healthcare law, if you let me buy as many guns and as much ammo as I want, when I want. DEAL??

At one point, prohibition and slavery were the law too.

Or maybe the republicans were too damn stupid to think about the consequences of their actions before they pulled their stunt?

Exactly. Thanks for the show guys. It was mildly entertaining while it lasted. I'm sure Excel has plenty of popcorn left over since the show didn't last long. The ending sure was anti climatic. Can we get the money for our tickets back? Oh no? You need it to pay the furloughed workers and to send to Pakistan? Ok. No problemo.
