Philly PD says "no Savesies"
Quote:Philadelphia police are warning residents to not use cones to save parking spots during this impending snowstorm.
By warning residents, we mean police are serenading them using the catchy sounds of Drake to spread their message.
Philadelphia Police Department's latest viral hit is a parody of the rapper's hit song 'Hotline Bling.'
The PPD switched up the lyrics to make sure Philadelphians know it's illegal to save a spot:
You need to call us from your cell phone/
Late night, when you see that cone/
Call us from your cell phone/
That parking spot's not yours alone
"Folks - the spot isn't yours, and saving it is against the law. Don't fight and argue with your neighbors - if you see an offending spot saver, call 911 and the PPD will swing by and check it out," the Facebook post reads.
Using their inner Drake, police want everyone to know Philadelphia is a #NoSavesies city.

One of the many reasons I couldn't live in the city. The spot in front of your house should be your spot, period.

Problem in the city is houses are 14 ft / 16 ft wide, and cars are 18 ft. plus almost everyone has 2 cars. and if you have a truck and a car, you are in trouble..

True. Well, still, if you have a house, there should be one space that's yours and nobody else's. What you do with your second vehicle is on you, but one spot should be yours.

So your neighbor throws a party while you are still at work, and then you come home and have to park two blocks away from your own front door.... That would stink so bad.

Well crap, I don't see anything about the Pittsburgh method of using a parking chair(s) as sgtsandman mentioned, tell 'em you just moved there from Da Burg...:
I've lived in and around Philly most of my life. I don't recall seeing any cones for saving a spot. I have seen mostly chairs, of all kinds, not fancy like the Pitt chairs though. In years past there have been people shot over a spot.
I remember a time years ago I was plowing city streets the day after a big storm, had people throwing all kinds of crap at me, I was plowing their spots back in, hard not to in a row home neighborhood. I was expecting to be shot at, never volunteered for that work again. Probably my most stressful day ever in a dump truck, and I've been in places the truck had no business being on construction sites.

It's not just cities that have this going on.
My mother is in her 60's with some health problems.
Instead of waiting for me to shovel her spot she'll do it herself.
There is a restaurant a block below her place.
The young kids who work there will find these shoveled spaces and pull their rice burners into them and then walk to work.
What really burns me is that there is a huge parking lot a block below the restaurant that is open for parking but the shot noses won't park there because they have a steep hill they would have to walk up to get to work.
She's had her car pinned in, hit and I've had my Cadillac hit also.
The borough and owner of the restaurant could care less, they both say its residential but no permits are required to park there.
So I just do whatever I can to discourage them from parking there, which iI won't go into any further...

Can you put up a no parking zone or a handicapped sign or something?
