'Groupon' cancels all gun-related deals

Quote:For those who don't know, the immensely popular website "Groupon" provides you with the best deals in your city.

Michael Cargill is a local gun store owner and handgun instructor who we've told you about several times over the last couple of weeks.

He's been able to capitalize on all of the recent gun politics by offering a Groupon deal for discount concealed handgun license classes.

It was a hot-seller for him until Groupon pulled it Friday morning.

Michael Cargill, owner of Central Texas Gun Works in Austin has been offering Groupon deals for discounted concealed handgun license classes for some time.

But this week, his Tuesday through Saturday deal took an interesting turn.

"On Wednesday, after the President made his speech, the deal just went crazy and it looked like we were gonna max out," Cargill said.

So Cargill says Groupon called him and asked if he could raise the ceiling of the number of people they would let in on the deal, so he did.

And he says more than 1,000 Austinites latched on to it...that is until Friday morning when his deal disappeared from the website --and it was no accident.

"The Groupon representative calls me up and he says that 'Well, because of the CEO, he's decided to suspend all Groupon deals related to handguns, concealed handguns or anything dealing with guns period.'" Cargill said.

Going national nowCool

Quote:Groupon reserves the right to cancel any deal at any time, but the company must put it in writing first. Cargill claims he never received a written notice and is now considering taking legal action.

“If we’re able to sue, then I want to sue,” he said. “But if I cannot do a lawsuit or a class action lawsuit against Groupon, what I am asking … I’m asking everyone in the Second Amendment community to boycott Groupon, because the message they’re sending is, ‘Look, we do not want to support law-abiding citizens taking time out of their schedule to learn the safety surrounding firearms.’”

Similar deals at other Austin, Texas, gun shops have been cancelled by Groupon, according to KTBC Fox 7.

Here is my feedback:

"I, and millions of other like-minded guardians of liberty, want you to know we are highly disappointed in your decision to withdraw all gun-related deals. While you have the right to run your company as you see fit, it seems inexplicably irresponsible to willfully alienate untold numbers of current and potential customers by taking this foolhardy action. Further, taking such divisive political positions as a for-profit business does a disservice to your investors as well as your employees. Given your apparent reckless management practices, I'm thankful I'm neither one."

I don't even use this stupid site, but I am a newly awakened activist in response to this all-out assault on the 2nd amendment. If too many of us continue to sit on our ass like we did with obamacare and this last election, THEY WILL GET YOUR GUNS.

Contact and boycott ever company which caves to the anti's thug tactics, sign every petition, go to every rally, write every representative, push back on every idiot news article and social media posting, email friends and family. YOU must make it happen!

Nicely phrased. I think that it might be wise for us to have a thread that is for nothing more than emails that we send to various and sundry companies or persons who are taking us too lightly. First it could be considered one stop shopping for who not to deal with and second we could use it as a general contact area so that everyone can contact those companies/persons who directly affect them.

I used the "contact us" form on their site to ask them to cancel my account immediately for their choice to stop supporting gun-related deals. I told them to keep the $10 credit I had and I let them know that any further advertising emails from them would be flagged as spam. The site said someone would contact me regarding my issue, but I doubt that will happen.

Here is the response from Groupon. Their site promises a response within 24 hrs. Upon sending the feedback, I received an auto-response acknowledging receipt. The next day, I received a notice that they were experiencing heavy traffic and would need 48 hrs. Fair enough. True to their word, they sent a response within 48hrs. While I don't agree with their rationale or even understand it, frankly, they did respond as promised:

Hi XXXXXXX,

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us.

We understand that this is a sensitive topic, and that some of our customers may not agree with our choice to pause the promotion of firearm-related deals. Groupon has always aimed to offer a diverse range of products and services to meet the various tastes and interests of our subscribers. However, at this time, enough customers and merchants have voiced their opinions that we believe a hiatus is warranted.

Please note that we have never sold guns, and this hiatus only applies to firearm-related deals including shooting ranges, clay pigeon shooting, and concealed weapons training classes. We have not made a final determination regarding this category -- we are simply taking a break and may reevaluate in the future.

We genuinely appreciate your opinion and the feedback you've given us. I'll be sure to share your comments with the appropriate people.

Regards,

Casey S

If you're pro-2A, I suggest a "hiatus" from this company unless and until they recognize the error of their ways.
