Growing your own medicinal plants
#1
If this is in the wrong section please move it mods.

Im wondering if anyone grows their own medicinal plants? Growing your own food is great and necessary but growing your own medicine is some thing that in a SHTF senario will be very useful. If you do grow some, what do you grow or what do you plan to? Any sources for some?

Also list any useful plants you know of. Sadly some very useful plants(think E. Coca) are banned in the US. There are many gray area plants that can replace those but not going into them.

Personally I only grow aloe right now but am always looking for more. These plants in a total collapse will be in high demand and great trade fodder.

The only one we keep so far is Aloe as well. I can personally attest to how well aloe plants work as well. A few years ago, I was de-soldering some diodes from a rectifier, and the iron slipped. The barrel of the iron went right into the soft fleshy part between my thumb and forefinger. Hurt like hell, but I went and quickly cut a leaf off and squeezed the fresh aloe onto it. Not even a blister raised and it healed faster than any other burn I got at lower temps than the iron.

My mom kept aloe...I don't really have room in the house now with four boys and a dog to keep it, but someday I want to.

We just have a small one potted in the kitchen. We don't need it that often, but it is always there in case we do need it.

I would like to have more, but we got this one ages ago, and it is one of the plants my wife hasn't managed to kill lol

Im looking into plants such as Cowitch, guarana and few others. I have plenty of room for plants and have no problem growing exotic and rare stuff.
