Gunsmith Recommendation Needed
#1
Hi guys. I'm hoping you can recommend a gunsmith in the Fredricksburg area.

My dad purchased an old Savage 22. When he fires it, the round tumbles as can be seen from the markings it leaves on targets. Out of curiosity, he took a 22 round, placed it in the chamber and pointed the muzzle down; the round fell out of the muzzle. So, obviously something is up. He is trying to find a gunsmith that can tell him what type of ammunition he should be using or if the barrel was bored out? Anyone have a suggestion for a gunsmith that could take a look at the rifle?

Thanks for your help.

If the barrel is marked .22 and a round will fall out the barrel, Savage isn't going to know. You need to do a chamber casting and mic it to see what you have.

Thanks for replying. It sounds like something that a gunsmith should do. My father isn't going to want to mess around with casting the barrel. Do you have any recommendations for a gunsmith in or around the Fredricksburg area?

Thank you. I'll pass this on to my father.
