H.U.D. Property / Federal Property / Gun carry ?
#1
Today I was at the local Gun shop, when the the subject of H.U.D. housing came up. One guy stated that H.U.D. housing was Federal property and was off limits to Gun carry, just like the Post office.

I agreed that the Post office was off limits. I did not agree with him on the H.U.D property.

This Guy also claimed that even the residents could not possess Guns on H.U.D. Property. I again dissagreed with him on this one!

So my questions are:
Can you possess a Gun on H.U.D property?
Can residents of H.U.D. housing possess Guns while living on H.U.D. property?
Life is terminal, get over it!!! 124

Federal BUILDINGS (and military installations) are off limits.

In philadelphia, PHA homes are state property belonging to the agency, which was chartered by the Commonwealth. Right now PHA is under direct Federal control because of the Carl Greene fiasco and has a HUD-appointed administrator. However the physical land and buildings are not Federal property but belong to the Commonwealth via PHA. PHA is equivalent to a public corporation which can buy sell and own real property.

PHA has the ultimate discretion of whether it will allow firearms in any of its tenants buildings. I don't know what the policy is.

Actually, it's "federal facilities". This does not include all federally owned buildings. The applicable legal definition is quoted below.

Quote:The term “Federal facility” means a building or part thereof owned or leased by the Federal Government, where Federal employees are regularly present for the purpose of performing their official duties.

This appears to be true. In fact, if I remember an earlier post, that includes - or may include at some bureaucrat's discretion - parking lots and "grounds".

The quote I provided is directly from US Code. Do you have a cite that suggests that additional areas may be included "at some bureaucrat's discretion"?

Above applies only to "WATER RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT PROJECTS (ADMINISTERED BY THE CHIEF OF ENGINEERS)", not all federal property/lands.
