Megan Graham, a Federal Way, Washington woman, called 911 to attempt to save herself from the cops who were beating her. Straight from the Bully’s Playbook, the partially deaf and cognitively disabled woman has been charged with felony assault on an officer.

Graham said that she had stopped at a friend’s apartment building when a police officer pulled up behind her. She says that she responded politely but never heard the officer order her, from his running vehicle, to get back into her car. That’s the point at which things got ugly, as the officer reportedly grabbed her roughly. She called 911 in hopes of getting other officers there to de-escalate the situation.

The key in the article is something we don't know.....whether she attempted to strike the cop first or not.

Regardless, looks like they went way overboard....but if it's true she tried to punch him, well...that was stupid.

Do you think, if you're a police officer in decent physical fitness and have received the required training, that punching this lady in the face is the best way to deescalate any situation?

Maybe. I wasn't there though.

BTW, you can't look at any of these stories with ONLY the info known after the fact.

Does anyone REALLY think that a cop would punch a woman in the face if he knew she couldn't hear his instructions and had "mental issues"?

No, I don't think he could have known that. Does anyone REALLY think they should punch someone who ignores them in the face to deescalate a situation? In any confrontation between a trained, fit LEO and THIS woman, I can't think of any occurrence where punching her in the face would deescalate things, unless she was using lethal force against him.

Yeah, I do. If warranted.

I wasn't there though, so ultimately, I have no idea. I just know that in most cases, what the media feeds us is not even close to the whole story.

Yeah, I do. If warranted.

Would you care to regale us with any possible hypothetical situation with these two actors in this setting, wherein him punching her in the eye is an effective way to deescalate the confusing confrontation?

Deescalating? Nope.

Deserved, or brought on by something unknown? Maybe, but it would be a wast of hunting and pecking.

What is "cognitively disabled" anyway???? That's what I want to know. I can't keep up with all the politically correct descriptions anymore.
