Meh, I see self-righteous non-religious types full of shit every day too, so quite frankly I'm not surprised when anyone is revealed to be full of shit.

True. But they do seem to take it to a special level of shit. One would have thought they would have had more success after praying on it.

Hard to say, they're bound to be held to a higher standard by those calling them on their shit anyway, despite those doing the calling out not being able to hold up to the standards they're expecting out of them.

I hate to agree with Justin, but he's right.

That said, no govt should be allowed to force an individual, or an entity under which they do business, to hand over their property for the "benefit" of another.

Remove govt welfare and you'd find that people would help each other far more. We've forgotten our purpose as a community to help our neighbor in lieu of the govt doing it for us, many times without our consent and for people not even within our own community.

Of course, because at some level every person reaches a point of hypocrisy. How full of shit, and how bad it stinks, is all subjective.

Health insurance should simply be a niche market. Most people should have nothing but catastrophic insurance at the most. People who believe in the insurance system we had even before Obamacare have obviously never haggled over the price of something in a marketplace. Health insurance is nothing but a protection racket that serves to drive up the price of healthcare in order to force you into buying it.

If you want to buy my widget at the market that I have marked at $20 and I know you really want to buy a widget and you say you only have $15 in your hand. While we are negotiating on the price you wife comes back with change from another purchase that happens to be a $5 bill and now I know you have $20 am I going to sell you my widget for $15 now? FUCK NO! Insurance works EXACTLY this way! Where is the incentive for healthcare providers to come down in price when they know that most people are financially backed by either the US government or a multibillion dollar insurance company? Between that and our overly litigious society which values a lap burned by coffee in the millions that is the problem. The sooner people figure out that health insurance is a protection racket and we clamp down on these multimillion dollar malpractice lawsuits the sooner healthcare costs will actually come down. If you travel to countries where insurance is nonexistent for the most part and they dont have socialized medicine you'll quickly find that the out the door cost for healthcare is about what our co-pays are here in the US because of the protection racket and the quality of care available to paying customers is more than comparable to the best facilities here in the US.

I've said it before but if I ever get something horrific like cancer I already have several state of the art hospitals tailored to expats in other countries in mind to go to where I can afford the treatment out of pocket.

Thanks, I think? ShrugSmile

Part of me is rooting for a win for HL because it would put another chink in the armor of Obamacare.

Despite what the SCOTUS says, I cannot see how it is Constitutional.

I like my health savings account. Let ME save and spend my money how I choose on healthcare. Keep the government out of it. I agree with emoticon as well, get rid of the insurance racket.

I should be able to go to a doctor and say "how much to treat this boil on my ass?" "100 bucks." "I'll do 75." "Deal."

Why the fuck should I have a middle man or the government in there?
