I fail to see how walking will help someone put on weight. It will actually do just the opposite.

Not if he's been on a very low cal diet or fasting for the better part of two years as he said.

Barring medical reasons a body will crave the food it needs. Modest activity will start the process. Sitting around ones apartment, moving only his fingers while feeling sorry for himself will not be fixed by a protein shake. Fresh air, moving his muscles and getting on with life may start the healing.

Go to a doctor to get treated for your mental illness(es) and tell them you want to be normal again (weight mood energy etc.).

Our son had lost a lot of weight by being in the hospital several times do to adhesion's blocking his intestines. When he got home I gave him a high protein powder mixed with whole milk and Ice cream (strawberry) 3x's a day. I also had him eating chicken sandwiches 2 times a day besides our normal meals. (I would pound out a chicken breast and get 2 patties out of one.) He gained the weight back within a few weeks time. Only side effect was he would also grow a few inches. When we started this he was 5'9", he's now 6'5", lol.

Maybe you should consider eating the bodies instead of dissolving them in acid?

Anyway, the way I do it is to eat like I normally do, but add small snacks between each meal. Try to make the snacks at least 300 calories. Things like instant oatmeal, toast with peanut butter, trail mix, yogurt, bagel with cream cheese, etc.

Also, drink LOTS of milk. Anytime you would normally drink water, drink milk instead. And WHOLE milk. It's very calorie dense, and goes down easy, even when you're not hungry.

Lastly, make a shake before bed every night. Not one of those powder protein shakes. Get a shaker bottle (you can get them at GNC or some grocery stores) and throw in 3 raw eggs, 1.5 cups of whole milk, 2 tbsp peanut butter, and some chocolate syrup. You now have a delicious shake that cost about $1.25, and is a massive 800 calories. This also goes down easy, even after eating a meal. You don't even taste the eggs, it just tastes like creamy peanut butter chocolate goodness.

I have an extremely fast metabolism. This is very similar to what I did to gain quite a bit of weight in a rather short amount of time. I was lifting heavy 3x a week to make sure it wasn't just all fat that I was putting on my frame. I also worked a very active job at the time. I was consistently taking in 5000-6000 calories a day. Bumped up from 150-175 in a matter of about 3 months. Lost my job and gained another 15 pounds in a few weeks. Had to back off on the calories after that.

The only problem you could run into is the excess quantities of milk. I drank at least a gallon a day for a few months. Now I'm lactose intolerant. My esophagus burns and I get sick to my stomach if I even drink more than a small glass of milk anymore. It took me a while to figure out that it was the milk because drinking it was the only thing that made myself feel better instantly.
