So much for that.

Note that on winning candidates, the NRA didn't spend a whole helluva a lot. It spent most of its juice on opposing candidates. Which didn't pan out.

SESTAK, JOSEPH A JR (D)
Office Sought: PA (Senate)

2012 election cycle outside spending summary
Independent expenditures made supporting this candidate: $7,911.51
Independent expenditures made opposing this candidate: $2,123.44

So they spent $10m supporting and opposing the same candidate? Am I reading this right?

Also no help in the PA AG race I see.
We should not forget that the spark which ignited the American Revolution was caused by the British attempt to confiscate the firearms of the colonists. - Patrick Henry

With the amount of money given to the NRA by it's members, the NRA should be out on their own national campaign advertising and campaigning for 2nd amendment rights nationwide. instead, they spend all of they money on publications and programs that only their own members ever see or hear. They should be running TV commercials supporting the second amendment and pro-gun politicians.

Let's keep in mind that they spent so much money supporting the losing candidates because the majority of this country has lost all touch with the constitution, freedoms, and self-reliance. As a result the NRA is fighting an uphill battle by having to go toe-to-toe with the most popular candidates.

Maybe it wouldn't be such an uphill battle if they spent more of their money on educating the public? Why do I feel like I've educated more citizens on firearms rights and firearms facts in my 5 years of being a firearms enthusiast than the NRA has done in their entire existence.

Yeah, that too. Undecided

They're as efficient as any bureaucracy.

They run their organization like the outdated fudds they are in reality.

I never understood the magazine thing, years ago when I was a member, I gave out my copies to others, left them in doctors offices and such.
Even if they are a not for profit, they surely could still sell copies of the magazines retail somehow couldn't they?
How about letting members buy additional subscriptions to one of the other mags without having to by another membership?

Let people see those armed citizens stories.

Ohh, they have a show on some obscure outdoors channel. Big deal, who watches? Those already into guns. Wat to reach out there NRA.

How about running some commercials that tell real quickly how someone staved off a criminal with a legal firearm?
Do something to educate the great unwashed.

Ever since they went wishywashy in the 90's I've been out, yet I still get their crap solicitations at least twice a month.

The NRA always did have the feeling of a an organization that heavily targets the Metamucil crowd---tons of direct mail.

Direct mail is so 1984.
