I think that's a bug with the forum software when there's multiple images on the same page. Refresh the page and see if it loads again.

Looks like it's happening because of slow response due to all the other images on that page. Here it is again.
Thanks! I'm impressed.

Interestingly enough, my wife asked me about getting a water filter today... without me even mentioning this tread. Guess where I referred her... Big Grin

Hopefully we will build one when we get the cash. I have had a crazy work schedule today and I didn't get the chance to follow up with her yet. When I do, I will certainly let everyone know. Smile

I have a well so i guess i dont need to worry about filtering water. I just need to get the water out. A generator works aslong as i can get gas.

Maybe i need a back up.

Just remember it's not the poison is the dose.

Where did you get your test water from, was it as dirty as mine? No pictures? But good job on building one, pretty easy ain't it?

I made a modification to my filter today. I decided to consolidate the two stages of filtering into one bucket. There is one caveat to doing this though, to remove the second filter, you have to remove the lid to the filter bucket, which can be kind of tough. Below is what I did.

I got these parts, a 4" flange, 4"x4" pipe piece with holes drilled in it (not shown), stainless steel screws, washers, nuts and a 4" coupler.

I mounted the flange on the bottom of the bucket where I had my stage 2 filter assembly. It mounted right around it, it's held in place by the stainless steel screws and nuts all of which are RTV'ed.

The coupling mates the Stage 1 Filter and the 4" piece of pipe, and that entire assembly fits right over the Stage 2 Filter.

Finished product. Now you just fill the Stage 1 filter with water it'll flow through and fill the bucket and flow through the Stage 2 filter and into your clean water bucket.

A homemade water filter is often employed for making drinking water It is not possible to tell whether water is safe to drink just by looking at it. Simple procedures such as boiling or the use of a household activated carbon filter are not sufficient for treating all the possible contaminants that may be present in water from an unknown source. Even natural spring water - considered safe for all practical purposes in the 1800s - must now be tested before determining what kind of treatment, if any, is needed. Chemical analysis, while expensive, is the only way to obtain the information necessary for deciding on method of purification.
