Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced a new agency program aimed at recruiting young talent from American universities.

Napolitano unveiled the “Secretary’s Honors Program” at a meeting of educators with the Homeland Security Academic Advisory Council on Wednesday geared toward attracting recent college graduates for careers in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

“We need to figure out how we get them into DHS effectively and keep them,” Napolitano told the group.

“Through the program, we intend to recruit, to retain, and to develop exceptionally talented entry-level personnel focused on careers in cybersecurity, information technology, management policy, emergency management, and law.”

Fifty slots are open for recent graduates, who will be judged based on their academic performance and outside experience to be a part of the program, which is set up to closely mirror the Justice Department’s Honors Program, said Napolitano.

It's the "BILL OF RIGHTS" not the bill of "needs"

I would have loved this when I was in college. Government jobs at university job fairs were a joke when I was in college.

I've had ICE, FBI Agents, etc. recruit at Temple while I was there. Even when I was in high school, I attended an FBI Youth Academy Day. Basically students from all over the area would go to the federal building for the day and watch a bunch of presentations from FBI agents about what they do on a daily basis. Border Patrol and the Secret Service Uniformed Division actively recruit from colleges all the time too.

They always loved recruiting from Eastern Ohio and Western PA. Great work ethic and raised to believe the US Government is for the People. More FBI and CIA admin types came from these areas than any other in the country. They loved recruiting directly from high schools. And, then a little conflict in SE Asia put a lot of doubt in the minds of these kids and the area was never as it once was for these agencies.
