Hospitals Turning People Away Because They Can’t Tell If Their Plans Are Active
#1
And It begins

Quote:Hospital staff in Northern Virginia are turning away sick people on a frigid Thursday morning because they can’t determine whether their Obamacare insurance plans are in effect.

Patients in a close-in DC suburb who think they’ve signed up for new insurance plans are struggling to show their December enrollments are in force, and health care administrators aren’t taking their word for it.

In place of quick service and painless billing, these Virginians are now facing the threat of sticker-shock that comes with bills they can’t afford.

‘They had no idea if my insurance was active or not!’
a coughing Maria Galvez told MailOnline outside the Inova Healthplex facility in the town of Springfield.

She was leaving the building without getting a needed chest x-ray.

‘The people in there told me that since I didn’t have an insurance card, I would be billed for the whole cost of the x-ray,’ Galvez said, her young daughter in tow. ‘It’s not fair – you know, I signed up last week like I was supposed to.’

The x-ray’s cost, she was told, would likely be more than $500.

Galvez said she enrolled in a Carefirst Blue Cross bronze plan at a cost of about $450 per month through healthcare.gov, three days before Christmas.

‘No one has sent me a bill,’ she said. [...]

A similar situation frustrated Mary, an African-American woman small businesswoman who asked MailOnline not to publish her last name. She was leaving the Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, Virginia with two family members.

‘I had chest pains last night, and they took me in the emergency room,’ Mary said. ‘They told me they were going to admit me, but when I told them I hadn’t heard from my insurance company since I signed up, they changed their tune.’

Misleading title is intentionally misleading.

They aren't being turned away, they just don't know if they have insurance and the patients are OPTING to leave rather than being billed.

I read it earlier.....it's because they signed up for plans on the 23rd and want treatment now on Jan 2 but they don't have their cards yet.

That seems a little unreasonable to expect to have cards issued that fast....however it remains to be seen if they actually get cards.

The actual insurance is real insurance, big name companies....but if the government can't responsibly handle the third party work (like so far they cannot seem to) then that is where the problem lies.

So far our experience has been nothing but incompetence and we aren't even signed up yet due to them constantly losing our info.

It might not be realistic to receive cards that quickly through snail mail, but there are other ways to validate coverage. If sign ups are being handled online, then it should be set up to issue confirmation online or via email and offer an avenue for health care providers to check coverage. At the very least, an option to call for authorization.

Granted, this requires competence and proper planning for implementation, but it's no secret how to do it right. Wink

Meanwhile, state insurance exchanges are halting payments to the web contractors for their failure to provide the services they were contracted for:

Quote:State Obamacare exchanges halt payments for 'substandard, messed-up' websites – built by the same contractor that botched healthcare.gov

'If we could do it all over again,' a Massachusetts official said, 'we would have been better off hiring a half-dozen undergrads at MIT'

Vermont, Hawaii and Massachusetts are among the states complaining about how CGI Global's U.S. arm handled their Obamacare sites

Massachusetts is holding back all but $11 million of $69 million in contract payments until its site works properly

Vermont is stopping payment on at least $6.1 million to the same firm

Hawaii's Web portal launched two weeks late and performed so badly that the executive director of the state insurance exchange resigned in disgrace

Since this is supposed to be BO's signature accomplishment, you'd think they would make some extra effort to ensure its success, but this has been handled so poorly that it appears either intentional or so incomprehensibly incompetent that it can't possibly be defended as a good move by anybody.

When people actually figure out what a co-pay, deductible, co-insurance and out of pocket max is they will have a heart attack that they can't afford.
I watch tv reporters fail to explain those four terms. If you wind up using the plan those things for a single person plan could turn a 250 a month premium to a 1000 a month spread over 12 months.

I see nothing in there that says they have cards and are being turned away. It appears that they are telling the admin staff that they signed up online, no more proof offered then their word.

An X-ray shouldn't cost more than $50.

But it's $500, and even if you actually have the insurance under Obicare, you are going to get the entire $500 bill anyway.

Why?

Because you now have a $5,000 (or more) deductible, and until you pay that $5,000 out of your pocket you get nothing from your so-called "insurance" except the monthly bill that automatically comes out of your checking account.

if you don't have that $5,000, unless you're literally dying right here, right now the doctor or hospital will not treat you until you prove you can pay them first because they can now be fined for treating the uninsured

they thought this wasn't what they were going to get because they were lied to.

In fact the sheeple, were warned -- repeatedly -- that this was exactly what they were going to get since 2009 when this wet dream was created

We were called names, including being told we were "racists" and "teabaggers", for giving the warnings

they believed Obie would help and give them "free" insurance

obama and the libtards had an intention to "help" all right -- help themselves to all your money and leave you without medical care because despite paying into their scam , you don't have the money to cover the deductible.

We were called names, including being told we were "racists" and "teabaggers", for giving the warnings.

all the Obama lovers who literally knelt before comrade obama -- eat your damned peas and quit bitching because you got exactly what you not only asked for...... you demanded.it
