NY....upside down. Scary to think this is the financial capital of the world. Or does it explain a lot?

The Curious Case of George Bardwil: How lawful self defense will get you arrested in NYC

http://www.guns.com/2013/03/19/the-curio...e-bardwil/

A Manhattan millionaire is under indictment for possessing an unregistered handgun. George Bardwil, target of multiple recent burglaries, stopped a home invasion in January by pulling a gun on an intruder and issuing a verbal warning. But when the police arrived to investigate the break-in, Bardwil was arrested.

Bardwil won’t be charged with anything related to his act of self defense. Instead Bardwil is facing three years in prison for simply having the gun, which is registered to his bodyguard.

Handgun permits in New York City

The possession charge is based on the complex rules regarding handgun permits in New York City. It is illegal to posses an unregistered handgun in New York City. While most Americans are familiar with concealed carry permits, New Yorkers have to apply for permits to keep a gun in their homes. The laws are so confusing that there are now “handgun license consulting firms” that exist to assist in the application process.

George Bardwil

The New York Post reports that the gun belonged to Bardwil’s body guard. “Bardwil is fighting the gun possession charge. The gun, a loaded, .40 cal Sig Sauer, was legally registered to Bardwil’s bodyguard, who had left it in a secure box in the apartment.”

It doesn’t matter that the gun was registered to his body guard. Bardwil had legal right to keep or use the gun.

When the police showed up to investigate the attempted burglary, Bardwil voluntarily showed them surveillance footage of the incident, which showed him in possession of the gun.

That was enough for him to be arrested.

The Wall Street Journal writes that “Mr. Bardwil allegedly told police he kept the weapon because he feared for his life and said he slept with the gun underneath his pillow in his bedroom.”

Why any educated person who values their freedom and God given right to self defense is still living in NY baffles me? These cases of people being arrested for defending their lives from criminal attacks aren't rare in NYC. This is common.

And now with the new Safe Act in NY criminalizing tons of legal gun owners it's time for everyone to flee the draconian police state of New York

However please do NOT move to Pa. if you see Bloomy as any type of conservative, republican or libertarian. We don't need you.

I noticed one inaccuracy: it said he was charged, not convicted, of domestic abuse. Being charged alone is not prohibitive. I couldn't care less about this fuckstick, in any case; the idiot knew it was illegal to have the gun, and in all likelihood voted to the Führer of NYC.

NYC is one massive cock-up.

The NY Daily Snooze had another anti gun article that I commented on. It was LaPierre's CPAC speech. The comments from all those opinionated a-holes makes it sound like all gun owners are criminals and deserve to be shot or locked up.

NYC can go to hell. Those imbeciles deserve every mugging they get.

Before the SAFE act, 74% of NY R's supported Cuomo if that's a measure. Scary eh?

Exactly, I don't feel sorry for him.
If you want to live in NYC deal with their laws.

Soooo the body guard in the house was allowed to have a gun, but the guy who hired the body guard wasn't allowed to use it. So its okay to hire a body guard, but not okay to be your own body guard.

And I am assuming that had the body guard been there...and had been shot, the guy would have NOT been allowed to snatch the body guard's gun and try to take down the attacker.

You know....

I've read a lot of books from the holocaust and the general feel of the people in that time frame was "things look bad, but they won't get any worse, and eventually they will get better."

Which thought killed millions of Jews.

Random thought, but maybe not so much.

Not the least bit suprising.
You can't support a lib and not expect to get the the entire package.
They did it to themselves.
