How long will it take

No, they have just handled the PR and press better.

From what I can see the response has been relatively weak. However, in light of the breadth of the area and the much larger population base affected, there are limits that affect the logistics of the response.
A gun rack in a pick-up is not for holding guns. Its a place for women to hold on to. Smile

I think what makes the response appear "better" is the distinct difference in the victims.

This group appears more inclined to help themselves and their neighbors rather than help themselves to their neighbors televisions.

I haven't heard about national guard troops making confiscation rounds, and I haven't heard about 'shelters' that are nothing more than barricaded areas packing people in like cattle.

So yeah, as of now, the response is handled better than Katrina.

I guess we're just seeing different things then.

Bush was no more at fault than Obama, but of course Bush didn't have the distinction of being born in a manger.

Bush was at fault for appointing a total boob to head FEMA when he picked the guy.

Dick Morris is making the rounds, calling it Obama's Katrina.

Have you seen downtown NYC, Staten Island, Queens, parts of Long Island? People are in day 5 with no food, no water, no fuel, no transportation, and some unable to even leave the floor in their apartment building.

People are crapping in hallways. Rats are up in buildings from flooded basements. The Red Cross is handing out cookies instead of blankets. People are dying on the streets.

Yes, fewer people are just standing around waiting for the government than those during Katrina. But still, the federal government has failed to provide anything close to adequate rescue and in my view, and has performed no better that they did for Katrina.

Obama toured NJ days ago. What's happened since then? What has improved? Nothing. FEMA is out of bottled water and blankets. I guess they didn't expect a problem. This is Obama's job. He belongs making sure that FEMA gets it right. Instead, he's out campaigning and still blaming Bush.

What a jerk-off.

Best line in this article:
“If you are heeding into the Rockaway beach to assist, there is a request for firearms, hot food, and cold beer. These next 24 hours are critical for these folks, the government has really let them down,” Meyer posted on Facebook Thursday.
