When I was in middle school, I believe it was 7th grade, the school's Art teacher brought in a muzzle loader during large group and gave us a brief history lesson on it. Then he loaded it without the ball and fired it. After that we all went out to the cornfield behind the school and he shot some clays.

Something that could never be done today.

Understand that's back in '66 when we were a harsh, ignorant, racist, patriarchal society.
It's much better now that we are a diverse, sensitive, and enlightened watered-down culture, who has abandoned those archaic and barbaric mores.

Yep, this is me getting off the plane in Germany with the pilot. I carried my firearm in the plane not in the checked luggage.

That's still one of my favorite photos of all time. ^^^


I don't have any "school" anecdotes to share, but when I was young kids routinely dressed as military or hunters for Halloween and carried real rifles and shotguns while trick or treating.
