Hypothetical question.

Ruger....you either go up via WV to VA to avoid MD, or you stop before and after to reload from the locked box.

Take no chances in MD.

I have to go through MD....going from Philly area to WV and VA and then NC.

I'm saying though, I can't think of somewhere to reload where someone won't see and freak out....do we make a human wall with our kids while we huddle in the back of the minivan trying to reload? Or just sneak everything to the front seat and have me reloading while hubby is driving? I know it seems like it should be easy, but seriously.... what a pain. LOL. Oh well, at least MD is the only "bad" state on our trip. Well that and SC, but we only have to hop over there to get hub's mom and come right back....don't have to take guns with us to do that.

INAL.

I'm not fearful about handling a firearm in public while complying with law. if skeered passerbyers cause you to get a mwag call, the law SHOULD be on your side. you might even educate a hoplophobe. that being said, I don't draw from retention and present my firearm as though I'm presenting it to a target while screaming 'I gotz a glock motherbitchez!' I simply walk to the trunk, pull the firearm and place it in the trunk cavity where I unload the magazine and rack the slide.

(Wait...Justin...I thought WV was reciprocal to PA? I thought the map showed it...)

Just have to make sure we don't get pulled over, get in a wreck, or get in the middle of a shooting, I guess....

Think of it like this, although on a much more serious level.

It's 3AM you're the only car on the road, there's a red light, do you really have to stop and wait for it to turn green? Legally, yes you have to stop and wait, you could choose to go through the red and chance getting caught and if you do you don't get to cry about it.

Justin

1) We have reciprocity with WV, not an issue.

2) States like NY, NJ and MD would definitely get you a sentence.

3) It would depend on where the offense occurred in other states, southern Ohio, outside the Cincinnati limits, would be a slap on the wrist, other parts, not so much.

If you were carrying a firearm in a state that did not recoginze your PA LTCF the expect to be arrested, booked, fingerprinted and held in jail until a trial is set.

YOU will be arrested and charged.

Your ability to legally own firearms will go out the window with any and all of your life savings and assets. Regardless of the shoot being legal and justified.

As far as clearing MD and re arming once you are clear of that commie hell hole, there is an option.

Put the locked box with the firearm in a backpack. Ditto for the ammo. When you clear MD go to the first rest stop. Take the back packs in the bathroom there. Go to a stall and rearm. Check to make sure you are not printing and go back to your car. Your husband can do the same.

It's a Catch 22 situation.

Came across this paper discussing Heller's Catch-22 and the 2nd amendment decision concerning Heller.

I'm only here for the 'Foxes with Firearms' thread.

If they take our guns, who will protect our children?
