I got to fondle it yesterday
#1
I stopped at the LGS to pick up my AR polymer lower yesterday, and asked if my 1911 came in.  It did!

Unfortunately, the person I sold the 9MM to has me waiting till mid October for payment Sad.  He's from my church and a very nice guy, so whatever helps him.

So I asked the store owner if I could at least look at it.  He brought it out.  It was in its case, then wrapped in bubblewrap and in a large plastic bag with loads of packing grease.  Took it out, got to play with it some.  No rattle to it, very clean fit.  Im sure it will losen up after some firing, but compare this to the Remington or Springfield which already rattled from the display case, im liking what I see.  Some of the LGS gang came over to look at it and thought pretty highly of it.  I dont care for the ACT mag that comes with it.  Probably going to get some Wilson combats for it.  Beveled mag well.  Front strap is only vertically grooved.   Will also want checkered grips for it, rosewood or cocobolo would look sweet on it (it's parkerized black/grey).  The trigger didn't have play in it, extremely little travel, crisp break and fast reset.  Pronounced safety click on/off.  Polished feed ramp.  Has a fired brass in a bag, manual, DVD.

Eyed a Safariland holster for it.  The holster looked sweet and would keep the gun closer to my hip.  I dont have large love handles, and the one thing I couldnt stand about the blackhawk was how far it sticks the pistol away from my body.  What I dont like about the Safariland was that it only has a thumb break.  I like the retention system of the Blackhawk.

So, after drooling over it for a bit, had to put it back in the bag, back in the box.  The next 30 days are gonna be long ones Sad

My RIA Tactical has fired hundreds of rounds and still doesn't rattle. Taking off the stock grips and putting on some checkered cocobolo grips made it feel much better in my hand. Mine also came with an ACT mag, and I've had no issues with it or with the 7 round GI mag I picked up for 8 bucks on cheaperthandirt...

Well?  What is the 1911 you're waiting on?   Huh

The act mag follower tilted quite a bit, is that normal for a 1911 platform?

I have the same weapon, but I gave it Pachmeyr American Legend grips and I love them. Also, my ACT mag was horrible! It wouldn't feed hollow points at all, and my Chip McCormick mags will. Then one day at the range, I pulled the trigger and the mag literally blew apart, sending the spring bouncing off somewhere off into the trees and dumping my ammo at my feet.

As Camper already asked, what 1911 is it? (A RIA like Chaz?)
Some people need to read this book: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1936976021/ref=...jwbZH1GAZF
