Illegal Aliens
#31
I think the operative word(s) here is Illegal aliens. We are a sovereign nation, with borders, & with a Constitution, which is supposed to be the law of the land. Our "president" and all those who hold office have sworn to uphold the Constitution. By not enforcing the immigration laws, they are making a mockery of their Oath of Office, not to mention, breaking the law.

I have no sympathy for any alien, or their family, whose first act upon entering this country is to break the law. I don't care if they're Mexican, Irish or whatever. It's not my fault that their country is a corrupt, shithole & it's also not my responsibility as a taxpayer to pay for their medical care, provide schooling for their kids, etc.

If the Federal government is going to pick laws that they choose not to enforce, then we as citizens should be able to pick any law we don't like & decide we're going to ignore it. Let's see how that goes.

Our porous southern border is a threat to national security.
If illegal aliens & drugs are coming across, what the hell else is coming into the country? The Marine Air Base in Yuma would jump at the chance for night gunnery practice. Let them start patrolling the desert & make the first mile inside our border a free fire zone for a week & this shit will stop real quick.

Landmines are the solution Dancing_Grenade3. Make a big ad campaign ahead of time about landmines being on the border then if somebody dies it's their own fault. Tongue Commit the crime, roll the dice.

That's an idea, but obviously, you've never seen a mini-gun from a chopper or a C130 working out.

To paraphrase Robert Duval: It looks like victory.Smile

Well as a person who is white and native american I do see your point. many open borders people make it as well. We are dealing in the NOW. what happened years ago does not really matter in this case. See how many illegals would break into this country if the europeons never came. Notice they dont break into countries to the south of mexico.

Call it racist or whatever people want but the europeon settlers did establish the country and many things that people like about the country and then other groups helped in great ways. Many have not gotten the credit they deserve though.

Actually what happened to the indians should show anyone what unchecked migration ( there was not illegal immigration back then as the usa was not a country) can do. When is the last time someone here heard native lakota or cherokee?

You often wont and sure as hell dont need interpreters in schools except maybe one or two states.

One big problem lots of people dont realize is the liberals look at the illegal invaders as votes.

They are not illegal vatos and breeders. They are "undocumented Democrats"

I would love to see someone try to challenge a firearms charge for an illegal full auto with the defense that its an "undocumented machine gun"

See how that goes.

And the illegals and those who support them ( seems to be a big issue to latinos) just dont get it.

NO republican in their right mind is going to give amnesty if it just means more votes for democrats.

It's kind of hard to compete against someone that isn't playing by the same rules that you are. Many of the illegals are working under the table, that means that taxes aren't being collected for their pay. That means the guy that hires them is able to bid much lower than his competition because he's not paying the taxes.

Meanwhile, the guys that are working here are taking their money and sending it back to mexico so that more of their relatives can come across the border illegally.

the solution is to break down the barriers that the state forces people to work under, not to punish people who are voluntarily doing work for whatever wage someone is willing to pay them.

I agree with deal_me_in, lets not protect certain workers; rather, lets free the market and get the state out of the way.

They work in crews, 5-6 guys for a rate that works out to 100-200 dollars less than me a job. I can finish a house a week, they can do three or four. Most companies employ a couple salaried touch up men to fix up their work. You might say "team up with some buddies and compete ". That would definitely work.... if I and my family and thier families all moved in together and shared expenses like the single, male illegals do.

I don't hate Mexicans. I don't like my livelihood being destroyed by illegals that have no intention of putting down roots here, contributing to community and appreciating what they are allowed to earn. Your compassion for fellow citizens that want to work and provide for their own families is touching.

$100-200 less than what you get paid is WONDERFUL for me, the person paying for the work!

sorry if it sounds rude, but that's how the market works.

it's always amuses me when a protectionist likes to rant about competitors being so bad, but it's a wonderful thing for the consumers at large.

think about it, if UPS was the only package handling company in existence, they could charge whatever they wanted to deliver a package since there's no competition, but because there's competition from fedex, usps, dhl and other carriers, UPS is bound by the going market rates for handling a package.

I'm not UPS and no, it isn't that simple. I wonder if you'd be amused if your salary or income dropped to what you were earning 15 years ago. Not through legitimate competition but with two different sets of rules.

I'm not a protectionist so if my salary dropped due to competition, then I'd either get used to it, adjust my living standards, or find a job in a different field.

I believe the states actions to put up barriers to competition to be illegitimate, whether you deem it to be 'legal' or 'illegal' competition.

Andrew, May I ask how old you are? It doesnt seem to some of us that you have "been around the block" so to speak. I know Mitch's position I was in the same line of work. When someone can bid a job at barely over what the price of material sells for because they all live in a one room apartment. You cant compete. Deal me in is just has ridiculous. If you have a trade you have been doing your entire life and have a home and family you cant just drop everything and go learn a new skill. I know idiots that have hired these illegals to do their work and many of them got exactly what they paid for sub standard shitty work. You people with cushy jobs should go out and bust your ass 10hrs a day, beat the hell out of your body and your health year after year and see if you still think these illegals are doing no harm. Like Mitch said if you dont live it you have no right to say anything about that situation. Mitch isnt talking about being protected hes talking about leveling the playing field for American workers who pay taxes and contribute to our economy.

It's naive to assume that savings is being passed on to the home buyer as well. It isn't. It is a lot more complicated than competition, capitalism and such as well. This is happening in not just construction jobs but other industry too. The effect on the economy is a negative one and has a trickle down effect.
