They made the classic mistake of going for the whole cookie at one time. We can only hope the Feds do the same.

Agreed, but I do fear that with our current republicans in office they will 'compromise'.

Republicans are in the house have become like the fat chicks in sororities; putting out despite being called lard ass and sugar tits because they're desperate for the guy who only wants his dick wet to like and respect them, and unwilling to come to terms with the fact that he never will.

It's also a tactic to make it so outrageous that they know even the wimpiest GOP members won't back it. Then they'll claim they tried to do something, but those damn republicans wouldn't go for it.

However, in agreement with Dave, they went so far that even members of their own party said , "Whoa dudes, I can't sell that to my more moderate constituents. They'll crucify me." That was probably the only thing that stopped it this early in the process.

Of course they will 'compromise'. Its what they do. Until you become dictator not everything will be to your liking. Same for me.

As I have only been with hot sororities I will respectfully yield to your experience with the fat ugly ones

Can Republicans really be so stupid as to vote for laws that will seem them out of office come the next election? It's not anti-gun Liberals voting them into office after all.

Don't know life...republicans are certainly far from perfect, but they have shoveled a boat load of stupid down their gullets lately.

Depends on the district but many times its not the Pro Gun Right either.

Present company excluded most are not one issue voters. For years there was a nice block of conservative Dems in the house called the Blue Dogs, mostly from the South who were for lower .gov spending and very pro gun. There were also many R's who were willing to make deals to get things done. These days we have many absolutists who ran in primaries, defeated the old guard but allowed the more Liberal ones to win the general election. As a example look at why Reid is still in office. The very few who actually won are too small in number to make much of a difference.

This year's Congress looks much different than lasts - not to our benefit.

When they bring up a bill that all gun purchases must go through a background check over 80% will say 'that makes sense'. Ban Hi Cap Mags? 70% will say "OK". But put it all together as they did here most will say "No F'ing Way". In a wired way, this kind of kitchen sink approach is our friend.

Your black / white approach sounds great here. Trouble is that is never ever works in the real world, especially in politics.

Wait what are we afraid of? Reid is NRA's right hand man right? He's got a B and we were all told to support him. He'll block any legislation in the senate right? Pfft...

Terrifying is all I can say to that. Sad

I still have to believe our voice, numbers and money thrown towards groups like the NRA mean something. I hope it's not as hopeless as you're painting it.

Which brings me back to my point and the point found in the tax increase thread.

We keep buying that republicans will stick to their guns and we keep buying that the NRA will tell us the right persons to vote for.

It's all nonsense.

Reid is a tool yet the NRA backed him.

The Republicans are caving in on taxes and now we're praying they stand their ground on gun control...

Eventually, hopefully, we'll wake up and start voting PRO-GUN, PRO-BALANCED BUDGET and PRO-Small Government.

Hopefully we'll kick the likes of MICHELLE BACHMAN out on her ass for her lying to us and turning tail (voting for the debt ceiling increase and the patriot act "for her kids").

Hopefully we'll start voting for pro liberty candidates.

What would be better?

That we stop getting into countless wars and we legalize drugs while balancing the budget and preserving guns rights or we keep putting republicans that aren't really republicans in office and continue down this same road?
