Index of Statutes
#1
We are in the process of building an index of statutes that are in some way related to firearms. Rather than wait until the project is complete, we are rolling it out in it's infancy, with much more to come as time goes on.

The index page is linked under the "Firearm Info" tab. The index is complete, but the child pages are still a work in progress. Statutes that are not yet available are stricken through, but at least you will be able to see what all will be coming.

For now, we're going to try and focus on the statutes that are shorter in length, as they go up quicker, and then we'll dig into the longer ones.

Please let us know if you find any errors, or if you think there is a statute not included that you think should be.

they look good so far, Greg.

one suggestion I'd make is to see if we can have the breadcrumb (pa2a>some link>another link) show the full path to the statutes so people don't have to go back to the root of firearm info>index of statutes each time.

example:

pa2a.org > Firearms Related Index of Statutes > 18 Pa.C.S. § 501. Definitions

so when someone is done reading the 501 definitions, they can click on 'Firearms Related Index of Statutes' and return to the index of the statutes.

Thanks! Looks good so far.

I do agree with this, though:

I think other non-firearms related statutes should be included as they become available or are submitted. Knife laws vary, and it would make it easier to keep track of them. I know the ones for Scranton, for example, I just have to get to a computer to get them.

I like this. I was thinking of starting a thread with all of the web addresses for each county. Is it worth it?

To what extent? The entire PA Crimes Code is huge, and can be referenced in other places.

I was thinking of limiting it to weapons-related statutes.

At just the state level? If you have specific statutes in mind, let me know and I'll get them on the list.

At this point, I think delving into local level regulations is pretty ambitious, given it's much harder to find them initially, and to keep track of ongoing changes that may occur.
