Is the 5.56 Good Enough?
#1
We all know about the "tumbling effect" and the velocities but in your own opinions has the 5.56 done a good job on the battle field? I have never been in combat so I have no first hand knowledge. So do you think the 5.56 is going away anytime soon? Is it a good round for battle? Lets here some opinions and your thoughts on this subject. das

The over penetration myth is always interesting to see again. At this point I know it's true but still hard to accept.

It was hard for me to wrap my head around too, there are so many variables! But after reading thousands of articles over the years, some written by very respected shooters, I had to finnally accept that maybe the .45-70 BFR may not be the ideal HD gun. Wink

That contributes nothing to the thread. We all know it shoots through paper. Thanks for those words of wisdom. It is a legitimate question asking for real opinions. das

Please tell me about the over penetration issue. Is this were it goes through "thin" people? Thats all I know about that issue. Thank you. das. ETA: I am no ballistics expert thats why I asked this question. So far P89 and Dave are the only ones on a GUN BOARD to respond in any meaningful manner.
