IWB Mag Carrier Options?
#1
Looking to carry two spare 1911 mags IWB. I wish AlienGear had something to offer. Anyone have any suggestions? Im thinking something hybrid with leather and kydex but open to other ideas. I don't want to put the mags in my pocket so what say you PA2A?

I think Old Faithful Holsters and Crossbreed have what you are looking for. I'm not 100% sure though. I know I've seen them.

I've seen the crossbreed ones, kinda pricy but that's pretty much the style I'm looking at. The biggest thing is, the leather must come up high enough that the base plates don't dig in. A couple reviews I read said they don't on the crossbreeds but looking at their websites stock photos it appears that they do. IDK.

Check Old Faithful Holsters then. They tend to be cheaper, especially if you get the kit and build it yourself.

Just looked at the IWB double mag carrier from Old Faithful Holsters, it comes in almost ten dollars more than the same style offered by crossbreed at $75! Seems extremely ridiculous for what it is TBH.

If this is the pricing these people are after good luck to them. I could easily ride my fixed blade horizontally at 10 o'clock and stuff the mags in my pocket.

I'd be a buyer at $30/$40 though. What are they thinking?

They must have drove up their prices since I last looked at them a number years ago. I haven't needed a new holster since then.

Yea, that's a little outrageous what they want for one. That's twice what I paid for the gun holster! I think if I can't find something better I'll just have the local leather shop stitch me one up quick.

Yeah, I think I paid $40 for my last holster and it is horsehide. I heard they don't even offer that anymore.

I've been thinking about doing the same thing, but I don't want something that has material up to the base of the mag.
IMO this could be a problem when trying to draw a magazine under duress if ever needed.
I'd rather have the mag exposed.
I guess this depends on the way one is built and where you will be placing them on your belt.

I've been looking at the Versacarry ones for $25.
Some people need to read this book: http://www.amazon.com/dp/1936976021/ref=...jwbZH1GAZF

It might depend on the mag too I guess. I'm thinking 1911 mags that have a decent floor plate "ledge" won't be too bad to grab. Don't know if you understand what I mean either though about the leather, I'd like to see come up past the inside only. If it's uncomfortable it'll probably end up in a drawer with all the other failed holsters and pouches I have been collecting. Maybe if I wore my undershirt tucked in it wouldn't be as much of an issue either. I think the main point is to have a better way to stow the mags other than taking up pocket real estate more than anything though.
