Children get molested every single day. Whether the offender has been doing it for decades or is just starting is irrelevant.

I just did a quick google search and look what I found:

Most of these are within the last 24 hours.

How many of these will you hear about on the news tonight?

That wasn't my question.

I'm well aware that kids get molested everyday. However, the Sandusky case was special, in that it was serial molestation for one thing, and it was institutionalize for another.

If some no name replaced Sandusky in this story, and it took place at a no name school, I'd wager that we WOULD hear about it, and we would all be equally outraged.

I'm not sure what your complaint is here. I'm missing your point, I think, and would like to understand what you're getting at.

We don't hear about every single murder that happens everyday, why would we hear about every single molestation?

That doesn't diminish our outrage at these heinous acts in any way.

My point is that people don't care about the victims. They just love to find a reason to hate a celebrity. At least, that's my hypothesis.

Oh I see! Thanks for clearing it up.

Though you may be right in some cases, I think a lot of people (myself included), are genuinely "outraged" because of the victims..., not because it is a celebrity. Until this case, I didn't even know who Sandusky was. No, I do not know their names, but that doesn't diminish my outrage for them. I don't need to know their names.

Have the victim names even been released? I thought that was still being kept secret to protect them?

That might be the case, but either way, no one is talking about them. Or about all the victims that were molested in the past 24 hours. It happens everywhere, all the time, but we don't bat an eye unless it involves someone famous. Remember when this scandal first came out? For the first week, everyone was just talking about Paterno, and made no mention of Sandusky. Why? Because Paterno was more known and a bigger celebrity.

People in general suck, and only want to hear the nasty details of the bad guy and generally don't care about the victims.

Can you name 1 victim off the top of your head of any of the following?

David Berkowitz
Jeffery Dahmer
John Wayne Gacy

Honestly, I can't name any of the victims, and I know a lot about serial killers.

Kind of like how people find the time to make complaints when things don't go right for them but rarely do those same people take the time to compliment or give credit to people when they do good deeds or go out of their way for them.
I enjoy complimenting people when I see good customer service or kindness - it really makes their day and many have said how rare that is and how nice to be appreciated. (a little off topic though)

By the way, curious why you know so much about serial killers?

Pretty sure we hate him because of what he did to the victims, not because he's a celebrity.

streaker is not the only one!

About the victims, many of them feel ashamed what happened; therefore, they do not want to attract attention to themselves. Elizabeth Smart, a victim of abduction and sexual assault, is a rare person who has become an activist for victim rights.
