Jim Carrey condemns his own movie

Jim Carrey isn’t joking around.

The comedic actor withdrew his support for his upcoming film “Kick-Ass 2,” explaining that he can’t stand behind the movie’s violent themes.

“I did Kickass [sic] a month b4 Sandy Hook and now in all good conscience I cannot support that level of violence," he tweeted on Sunday, referring to the shootings that killed 20 children and six adults at a Connecticut elementary school last December.

"My apologies… to others involve[d] with the film. I am not ashamed of it but recent events have caused a change in my heart.”

The movie, which will head to theaters this summer, is a sequel to the 2010 flick “Kick-Ass,” based off of a comic book by the same name.

Mark Miller, one of the film’s writers, reacted to Carrey’s sudden declaration in a long blog post about the controversy.

“As you may know, Jim [Carrey] is a passionate advocate of gun-control and I respect both his politics and his opinion, but I'm baffled by this sudden announcement as nothing seen in this picture wasn't in the screenplay eighteen months ago,” Miller wrote.

Miller added that—like Quentin Tarantino’s movies—“Kick-Ass 2” is fiction that “avoids the usual bloodless body-count of most big summer pictures.”

If that's how he truely feels, then maybe he should donate every penny he makes off the film to the victims of Sandy Hook. I like how he knew what the film was about, "performed" in it, and then says guns and and violence are bad. He's such a hypocrite! He says one thing, but does another to make money.

He is well aware that his statements will cause MORE people to go and see his movie. He has never been ashamed to do whatever it takes to promote himself good or bad.

Precisely this. He doesn't feel that bad, if he continues to profit from the film, and he will.

Like all Hollywood progressives, he talks out of both sides of his mouth.

I also cannot support his movie, I've removed it from my Netflix que.

Yep, he's pretty open about that, too.

I like how he was fine with it "until Sandy Hook".... Read: Now that it is politically incorrect......

I don't like Jim Carrey, anyway.

Problems I have concerning Jim, and his thoughts.

1. Most of his movies involve choosing who is dumb, and who is dumber. Or, literally talking out of his ass. After something like that, you just can't take him seriously.

2. In many of his movies, it involves him using guns in a violent way. In the mask, he has the large cartoony guns. In the end of dumb and dumber, he has the vision of shooting the one guy. Didn't seem to be an issue when he was making money off of it.

3. He is Canadian. I don't have a problem with our neighbors to the north. But you don't come to my house, and tell me how to arrange my furniture. You don't come to my country, and insult our beliefs.

And finally, he just isn't relevant. Lets face it, back in the 90s, it was one big movie after another. Ace Ventura, The Mask, Dumb and Dumber, Batman Forever, and the list goes on. The past ten years, sure he has had a few. But nothing that is really going to bring him back to where he once was.
This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins. -Ben Franklin
