Just Call ‘Em “Mayors Against Guns”

The group Media Trackers Ohio has done it again. They've used a Freedom of Information Act request to get ahold of e-mails between employees of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, anti-gun activists in Ohio, and the mayor's office in Columbus, Ohio. These e-mails demonstrate something I've been saying for years: Mayors Against Illegal Guns isn't about getting guns out of the hands of criminals. It's about taking guns away from the legal gun owners in this country and restricting our right to keep and bear arms.

As Media Trackers Ohio reports, Mayors Against Illegal Guns coordinator R. Lee Roberts, Jr., working out of the office of Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman, helped to develop strategy and campaign materials to block the signing of a piece of pro-Second Amendment legislation that Mayors Against Illegal Guns officially took no position on. New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's "Firearms Policy Coordinator," Janey Rountree, also brought Cliff Schecter, an anti-gun shill and MAIG media coordinator whose mindless screeds against the NRA grace the Huffington Post website on a regular basis, to help develop strategy as well.

In one e-mail, Bloomberg's lackey Rountree wrote that Ohio Gov. John Kasich should "pay a price" for signing the bill (remember, her organization had no position on the legislation). Schecter concurred with her desire to put "some public pressure" on the governor, and talked about using staffers in Bloomberg's office to "kick his arse."

Bloomberg wants to be the nation's new gun control czar, and he's been busy placing his people in city halls across the country. Roberts is just one of these gun control activists, and Coleman is just one of many mayors who are actively attacking your constitutional rights.

When you get involved, we win. Sign up to receive NRA-ILA alerts, watch the latest from NRANews.com, and when one of Bloomberg's minions tries to go after your rights, you'll be informed. Working together and speaking with one voice, we can defeat Bloomberg's efforts to erode your rights, just like we did in Ohio. Gov. Kasich signed that piece of pro-gun legislation, after all, despite the desperate machinations of the anti-gun lobby. Working together, we're more powerful than Bloomberg's billions of dollars. Working together, we can ensure our right to keep and bear arms is strong.

Taking it a step further.
Everytime we look the other way when someone else loses rights we disagree with, we make it easier to lose the rights we support.
