Huh? So you think somehow Kane is going to wave a magic wand and get rid of the Pennsylvania License to Carry Firearms? All by herself? Reciprocity with Utah (for instance) is not required for you to obtain a Utah Concealed Firearm Permit.

Good point. She could only take away the ability to use one of those in this state as backup (or primary) to our LTCF. My fear is that she'll say PA won't recognize any other which would likely making states that recognize ours begin to refuse it. But you're right, she can't say that DE won't recognize UT, so we have to rely on other states decisions for our reciprocity.

Right, but that's the good thing about getting a license from Utah or Florida. You're still pretty much covered in most "free" states anyway.

We WILL have to keep a close watch on Kane.

I cant believe how bad Freed lost Angry To me this was the most important state race. I thought for sure Freed would of won with the amount of gun owners in PA.

Other than talk in message fora like this one, I did not see any mention of the gun issue. Did the NRA even show up?

The actual ad that was run was by some PAC and not by Kane herself. They waited until the last possible minute so that they could get it on TV and not give anyone a chance to rebut their bullshit. It was a very smart move, not that I liked it at all but if you're going to lie to people, do it in a way that no one can bring the truth out and hurt you with it.

Haven't you heard? The NRA doesn't get involved at the state level.

Unless it financially behooves them of course.

Never the less it's our job to keep Pa free and this result may become an issue.

Exactly, had CeaseFirePA's endorsement list and Bloomberg's involvement been made known earlier I am completely confident she could have lost.

That wouldn't really matter since you can't use one of them to carry in state if you are a resident. It's been that way for years but the ad saying otherwise in the last days of the election probably sewed it up for her. That and the fact that she was a Dem and a huge number of them just walked in and pulled 1 lever of pushed 1 button.Angry

Huh? You most certainly can carry anywhere in PA with only a reciprocal license, at least for now, and it's been that way for at least 5 years, right on the PA AG website it says:

Quote:Note: It has come to the attention of the Office of Attorney General that there has been confusion over the applicability of Pennsylvania's reciprocal privileges with regard to the residency status of an individual who has been issued a valid license/permit. It is the position of the Office of Attorney General that recognition within Pennsylvania is based on the issuance to an individual of a valid license/permit by the reciprocal contracting state, and not on the license/permit holder's place of residence.

That's the whole loophole argument, they are saying if you can't legally get a PA license you can get one from FL and be able to carry here. Any they are right, as long as you have a valid license/permit from a state PA honors you can conceal carry here, even if you are a PA resident.

Philly tried to outlaw certain other licenses to close the loophole but they don't have the authority. As a result of when all this crap hitting the fan, now Utah won't issue unless you have a home state license, if you're from a state the Utah and that state recognize each others license.

The verbiage on that is very unclear and I've been advised that it isn't viable by an attorney. The actual verbiage is:
Quote: 15) Any person who possesses a valid and lawfully issued license or permit to carry a firearm which has been issued under the laws of another state, regardless of whether a reciprocity agreement exists between the Commonwealth and the state under section 6109(k), provided:
(i) The state provides a reciprocal privilege for individuals licensed to carry firearms under section 6109.
(ii) The Attorney General has determined that the firearm laws of the state are similar to the firearm laws of this Commonwealth.

To me it reads like it contradicts itself so I asked a criminal lawyer and he contacted the AGs office.

Laws are not defined by an AG opinion. They are defined by intent as written by the author.
The Second Amendment does not GIVE us the right. It tells the gov they can not infringe our right.
