Which do you prefer KBar has the name and history but you have to be careful now because some are made in China now. Ontario as far has I know are all American made. I recently bought an Ontario fighting knife but the finger guards are rubber other than that it seems like a very good knife.

I probably should have asked first, what are we looking at? Fighting knives, EDC, etc. I know in your post you mentioned a fighting knife.
I am just talking about the fighting knife. I keep it my safe for a just in case scenario. Like natural disaster or social unrest. You know just to have in case you need it.

I have several Ka-Bars, one of which is a folder. Great knife, but it's made in Taiwan. That is my EDC knife.

K-Bar or Ontario? It would depend on the steel used. Both companies make knives in the US, and both offer knives in 1095. For me it would be a toss-up if both met that criteria and I wanted to buy someone else's work.
