The NRA doesn't suck because WE are the NRA and they listen to the people who give them millions of dollars a year to do a job. Sort of like what the government should be doing.

Oh they didn't listen for quite some time, probably the last 3 decades or so. Worse, they did in the beginning and bowed down to people looking for carry laws to keep the blacks from having a gun. Only now are they getting balls.

They may be well intentioned but what they don't understand is the damage done to our liberties by the war on drugs, border security, & long wars overseas. Call it unintended consequences. As I wrote in the article:

Where? Give me something. A tiny quote from the panel. I am trying to give you the benefit of the doubt here. If you can't provide anything, beside your opinion, then your argument is as useless as a Bloomberg argument. One very basic technique of a debate is provide evidence, not opinion.

OK, let me try this again. Previously I wrote:

The channel is called Life of Duty, the series is called Defending Our America. From that start we get a season preview & a first episode featuring govt people who enforce laws & fight wars. They focus on 3 things war on drugs, the border, & the war on terror. Not a word about the danger from govt. They only engage in a discussion of how the govt will protect us. This is the problem. We are in more danger from the US govt than any foreigners.

They advocate the war on terror in that episode, which is unfortunate. However I do not see them advocating for the war on drugs. One of the guys talks about how it's unfortunate that kids are killing each other over drugs....can you provide a quote from the video or point to anything from the video to support your conclusion?

One might also want to take the target audience into consideration. That channel was specifically set up for police, military and first responders. Since they are the people that are living through that on a day to day basis it may be logical to address issues that they are dealing with.Shrug

I see your point but am not sure I agree. The channel also seems like a way to promote a good & sympathetic image of LEOs & military to the public. This is where I have a problem with them. LEOs & the military are a threat to our liberties. Don't take my word for it read the Founders, especially the anti-federalists. They were very much against a large & heavily armed govt. We need to relearn that lesson. In being for gun rights we need to be for the other side of that coin too, disarming the govt.

I too can write how tolerant I am of online BS but doing so would not make it true. Much better to look at what the Founder did when confronted with reality. Washington and the Whiskey Rebellion. Jefferson in Libya, which btw would be GW blush.

Listen, we all know you are an active so call peace activist spewing the same old rhetoric as your fellow travelers. That’s fine – my kid also believes in unicorns but please don’t insult our intelligence when we don’t buy into your silly agenda.

Bad things the NRA has done:

1. Attempted to sabotage the Heller case.
2. Sabotaged Castle Doctrine in NH.
3. Repeated attempts to sabotage Castle Doctrine in PA.
4. Claiming victory when Castle Doctrine in PA passed and when the court ruled in favor of Heller.
5. Hitched its wagon to neoconservative causes unrelated to gun rights.
6. Supported the original assault weapons ban.

While they have done a great deal to help preserve our rights, they've done their share to hurt them as well, which is why I can't support them.
Unbanned since September 2012.

The NRA has compromised before in the past with gun rights issues. I would not be comfortable giving them a dime of my money. Gun Owners of America is the only true no compromise gun lobby organization IMO. Coming straight from their own website, "GOA sees firearms ownership as a freedom issue." They are a champion of liberty.

I disagree that military and LEOs are a threat to anything. The threat comes from the people, read that as politicians, who demand that they act in a specific manner.
