Police: Deputy Shoots At Disabled Man Waving Gun Made Of Legos

http://seattle.cbslocal.com/2012/11/16/p...-of-legos/

Quote:“The first deputy arrived minutes later and the man ignored her commands. When the man pulled the handgun from his waistband and raised it, the deputy fired about 25 yards away,” Deputy Charlie Akers told the paper. “The man dropped to the ground and other deputies moved in to handcuff him.”

I hope they also send the officer out for an eye exam.

Well, to be fair, it probably looked exactly like a Glock.

(Ducking now as the Glock owner/fans begin to throw objects in my direction.)

You know what. Normally what I'd do is say things which other members would consider "Cop Bashing". But, not this time. This time I'm not going to just talk. This time. I'm going to take action. That's right. No more mister nice citizen. As of this moment I am currently eating dippy eggs without a license. That's right. I admitted it to the world. I. Am. Eating. Dippy Eggs. Made. Without. A. License. And you know what? The establishment can kiss my ass while I do it.

This could be taken two ways...

She needs an eye exam because she didn't hit him.

or

She needs an eye exam because she couldn't tell it wasn't a real gun.

Because you "dip" your toast in the yolk.

That's what we called them when I was a kid. I don't think I've heard that term in 30 years.

To be fair, at 25 yards it probably did look like a real firearm. Also, take into consideration that the person has a volatile history.

Per PA law, a person's behavior is judged on the information they had at the time. I can honestly see the officer truly believing the person pulled a gun on the other officer.

Also, who in the world would pull out something that looked like a gun on a cop? This sounds like suicide(attempt)-by-cop to me.

I'm with rmagill on this one. Someone pulls this out (if it was one of these or something like it) at 75 feet and I'm not taking the time to say "hey sir, is that a real gun you have there or one of them there pretend gun". I would say the cop had a reasonable concern for their life.

btw.. the guy in the video is from Australia. I guess this is the only type of gun they can own.
