Lehigh Defense 70gr 9mm HERO test!
#1
Hey guys,

I finally got a chance to test out the 70gr 9mm offering from Lehigh Defense and I gotta say I think it would out pretty well. Really interested to see if you guys like the results as well.

Granted I would not want to be shot by that, I'm still concerned about penetration. That was basic gel with a beater in front of it and it barely went 10 inches. In a real life situation, factor in bones (especially a ribcage) and I know penetration would be a lot less. I think I'll stick to my HSTs and Gold Dots for my 9mm pistols.

Awesome! I love ballistic ammo tests!

I agree with you Chaos that the FBI standard shouldn't be the be all end all for ballistic testing. However, having a standardize method for testing gives us a way to compare rounds more on an apples to apples basis. Ballistic testing is a bit tedious and cost both time and money, so its hard to test every round in every variation we could think of. My hats off to you for putting your time and energy into getting some more ballistic tests out there.

I'm very interested in different bullet designs and concepts, like the DRT, Liberty, and this Lehigh ammo.

You wouldn't be able to run as many people over with that car if it didn't drive as far. It should only have a 10 gallon fuel tank.

I carry the 50 gr @2000 FPS in the pipe followed by Underwood 147Gr.+P+ GDs or Critical Duty, in my 9's...more of a frangible bullet.

The gel tests I saw had temporary cavity the size of a basketball in the video I saw.....may have been from Troutoutdoors on youtube.

Isn't the Critical Duty 9mm 135 gr.? Or do they have a 147 gr. as well? Where'd you get it? Big Grin I've been looking for the Critical Duty. I've been carrying the 115gr. Critical Defense lately, but I like the overall penetration results and expansion I've seen with the slightly heavier Critical Duty better especially for winter carry.
