Liberal Gun Club

A Philadelphia girl/guy? relocated to California. They may be pro gun but they can't help themselves attacking conservatives.

Quote: Gun owner and Second Amendment advocate Marlene Hoeber isn't your typical member of the National Rifle Association. In fact, she isn't a member of the NRA at all.

The Oakland, Calif., laboratory equipment mechanic regularly visits firing ranges, where, along with other members of her gun club, she shoots a variety of weapons. "Guns are fun to play with," she says. She even makes her own ammunition.

She has no use, however, for the NRA's conservative political agenda. By her own description, Hoeber is a feisty, liberal, transgender, tattooed, queer, activist feminist.
She belongs instead to another gun advocacy group entirely--The Liberal Gun Club--whose membership ranges, she says, "from socialists, to anarchists who can quote Marx, to Reagan Democrats."

Its mission, she says, is to provide "a place for gun owners to talk to other owners about neat gun stuff, without having to hear how the president is a Muslim-usurper-socialist running a false-flag operation."

Ok. It is her right to that opinion and position.

However, she might want to consider how fun guns will be to shoot if the "conservative political agenda" of the NRA fails and all of the guns she likes to shoot are melted.

Meh.

So as long as the shemale doesnt attack my 2A rights as well as my other rights (such as my Libertarian/conservative views), theres always room for other POVs.

Unfortunately, her political leanings always lead to gun control. Always.

I was a member of the Liberal Gun Club.

I resigned, finding it too conflated with Political Correctness which is every bit as bad as conflating belief in the 2nd Amendment as written with a conservative agenda per se.

I'm still an NRA member.

I'm still at the NRA for two reasons:
  1. The NRA is the only real game in town when it comes to shooter education and certification. The Liberal Gun Club's services in the area are feeble at best.
  2. The NRA is the voice that is the loudest in the hearing of politicians of any stripe. It will be heard; indeed it was heard by Obama and Biden until Sandy Hook created the opportunity to ignore it.

I'm there despite what I feel is the error on the NRA's part in tying other aspects of its officers' agenda to their 2A agenda.

In sum, as a liberal, I think the Liberal Gun Club makes the same mistake of alienating those who don't toe the rest of its party lines as the NRA does, just in the opposite direction.

The two organizations' screw-ups don't cancel each other out. They compound the problem.

We need to get all firearms enthusiasts under the same big tent where they feel welcome with the objective of preserving 2A rights and control our passions about other issues in society so as not to make would could be very good allies feel unwelcome or less equal than others.

"Divide and conquer" is what the anti's count on. Why should we do that job for them?

Gascolator, I agree with your points 1 & 2.

But this throws me for a loop

You've just got to show me where the NRA itself or NRA-PVF or NRA-ILA has ever supported or opposed any candidate or policy for any reason other than firearms owner's rights.
