Liberty Ammunition

So, is this shit the real deal, or snake oil? CNC machined copper bullets, about 2000FPS for .40, for example.

It's about twice the price of the HST that I buy, but I'm thinking of grabbing a few boxes.

I don't know about the ammo, but Microsoft/Bungie is gonna have something to say about the logo. "Cease and Desist" comes to mind.
Ammunition, it's the new lead bullion. Buy it cheap and stack it deep.

They already did. It's called "civil defense" now.

I wonder if there are any ramifications to shooting underweight bullets at such high velocities. I'm thinking something similar to the extreme wear caused by shooting 125gr bullets over a high charge in a 357. I do realize that problem is specific to revolvers but it is the only example I could think of to cite.

Looks interesting though. Imagine if they made a 10mm Exclamation

Whelp I went ahead and bought 4 boxes of .40 from midway. When I get to the range, possible next weekend, I'll test it out and report back.

I might carry it mixed with my standard 180gr HSTs, until I'm confident that it isn't some sort of snake oil.

Maybe you could piss off another driver on the way to work and then give us an actual report. Smile

Liberty Ammo did a couple demos at Beaver Valley Rifle and Pistol Club last fall, mostly aimed at LEOs. They showed various pistol rounds and .223. Chrono specs were as advertised, and the terminal effects in ballistic gelatin for all the rounds was VERY impressive. "Explode" describes it better than "expand".

That said, I passed up buying some at a discount. Not that I wasn't VERY impressed, but if I ever need to use my pistol for real I'd hate to be sitting in court trying to explain why I shot some "poor dirtbag" with "super exploding cop-killer ammo".

Thanks for the info, that's good to know that you've had a positive personal experience with it.

On the topic of defending its use in court, I don't worry about those things myself. They could trump up anything, and I'd quit carrying if I worried about all the stuff they might say about be based on what/how/when I carry.

I alternate it with Critical Duty in my G26. I too am impressed with it.
And a bonus is it is extremely accurate.
Most accurate round I ever put through the G26

I think I'd like to see more testing done, by different people maybe, and all my pistols are .45 so they would have to produce a cartridge for that caliber anyway. It just seems to me like too many of his tests required all projectiles pass through both denim and drywall, and although I can't say for sure, his ballistic gel looked different from what I usually see in these kinds of videos.

Based on what I've seen so far I would absolutely pick up a couple boxes to play with at the range, and despite his testing, I believe I would use it for carry if I liked the results. For some reason our pistol range makes it particularly easy to recover rounds and the backstop after going through large containers of water, and the recovered slugs revealed a lot about their design.
