Lightest recoiling 20 gauge buckshot or slugs?
#1
I'm looking for something commercially available, as I'm not setup to reload shotgun ammo at the time. I was hoping for the Aguila mini shells, but it looks like they only make it in 12 gauge. Bird shot is not an option for the range I will be shooting at.

So what are my options? The reason I need this is for people who are shooting my short barreled shotgun (pistol grip only, no stock) for the first time. Despite only being 20 gauge, I had a person almost knock their teeth out shooting it for the first time. Also, some of these new shooters might be females. I need something that recoils like bird shot, but is either buckshot or slugs to keep in compliance with the range rules.

Remington has the reduced recoil "law enforcement" 12GA 9 pellet buck. Isn't there a 20GA version?

You could always just throw a towel over the shoulder to simulate shooting outdoors over a heavy coat so the edges of the butt don't dig in so bad to the shoulder and makes it more comfortable to shoot.

This is what shooting the RR buckshot does for recoil (12GA). I'm shooting this indoors in Philly:

Looks like your shooting at SPAG (Phila Archery & Gun)

The OP mentioned no stock, a pistol gripped short barrel gun.

Anyway Fiocchi makes a 20 ga low recoil round.

Thanks for clarifying that for the other member.

Anyway, I saw that Fiocchi stuff, but it's birdshot which is not allowed at the range. I'm looking for buckshot or slugs.

Could you just substitute another gun like a 410 instead?

Quick search on CheaperThanDirt only yields this result--which leads me to suspect this ammo type isn't produced?

Well, the worry is recoil right? Big Grin

I guess it's RR birdshot outdoors or guerrilla-grip it firing normal slugs. Lest you know anybody who can reload for you?

Something like this would be perfect for your application.

Too bad they only make it in 12ga.

Make the shooter fire a lightweight 10GA first, THEN switch to your 20. Big Grin

Use the shell with the less weight of lead. 1oz lead will have more recoil then 3/4oz. Most manufacturers put this info on their boxes.
