We should not forget that the spark which ignited the American Revolution was caused by the British attempt to confiscate the firearms of the colonists. - Patrick Henry

I don't understand how 5% of the vote changes anything, except takes conservative votes away from the more conservative candidate....

I don't particularly like Romney...actually I was a Herman Cain person back when.....but....I can't see how voting third party helps anything, practically speaking.

Even Herman Cain said he would help us get the tax code fixed by working on the sidelines. Yeah, right. I liked him, but he's useless now. He's nothing more than a talking head on Fox occasionally, if that.

No offense of course, I don't have a problem with Independents or Libertarians....but I just don't understand the point, other than voting your conscience I guess, which thats fine...but that is all the further it goes as far as usefulness.

I have to agree with ruger. Romney isn't my ideal candidate, but he is the only one who stands a chance against Barry.
This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of ignorance that tyranny begins. -Ben Franklin

the 5% thing is so that libertarians can get public funding when people decide they want to send money in when it's time to pay your income taxes, IIRC. I believe when people do that now, the money only goes to Republicans and Democrats, not anyone else.

btw, it's again, a fallacy to assume that someone who votes libertarian would vote conservative in any event.

the new republican math is spreading like a disease that needs a fix of medicine or something...

If Gary Johnson gets even 5% of the vote then:

The Libertarian Party will no longer have to spend half its budget just staying on the ballot. We will have the same rights as the status quo parties. This will apply to ALL Libertarian candidates, changing the world and the Federal, State, and Local level.

This is the way to break the 2 party strangle hold on future elections. I know Johnson isnt going to win but Im not voting to pick winners, im voting to help make a serious and important change in the election process. Hopefully Johnson gets the 5% he needs tomorrow to help the libertarian party in future elections.

Not often you find folks who will vote against their best interests and the best interests of the country....

Might as well vote for Pat Paulsen....or maybe Ralph Nader....same rationale....same results
